Ex-lovers rethinking their breakup realizing they still have feelings for each other after so much time.
After I wrote it, I realized my question about my own involvement with Algol men had not been fully answered. That’s when I started to take a closer look at Capulus. I don’t have Algol in aspect, or paran to any of my planets or angles but I do have Capulus Conjunct Saturn in the 4th house, but not in paran to anything.
My first draft was wrote on November 17 2012, and the world transits related to Capulus at the time were: Capulus in Opposition to Sun & Mercury Rx in Scorpio and Capulus is Conjunct SN Taurus within 2°.
Publishing this on November 24, 2012, Capulus is Conjunct the SN, as is Algol.
The Perseus Myth
Fixed star energy is deeper, and stronger in my opinion, and basically sets the stage for our life.
The fixed star material I’m bringing up in this article is not easily accessed in talk therapy because it resides as a hidden layer under our regular natal chart (an undercurrent). When I say, “regular”, I mean the standard planets and signs that we readily find in a chart.
And while I find the planets of our natal chart describe who we are, the fixed stars seem to be the myths we play out, often with our soul mates (SN stuff). Fixed star energy is deeper, and stronger in my opinion, and basically sets the stage for our life. Therefore, it’s very important to know what river flows beneath the sand, and work towards applause, rather than boos.
And that’s what I hope to accomplish in this article. I hope that you’ll be able to uncover compulsive (covered and deep 8th house material) behavior so that you or the ones you care about may begin healing and putting an end to destructive myths being played out. But not only that, I want you and those you care about to achieve greatness — to take the next evolutionary step of self-awareness and self-development.
Many say that myths are untrue. If that is the case, take advantage of that — see what you do, Â for what it really is — false action.
Legend has it that “Zeus visited Danae in the form of a shower of gold and got her pregnant with Perseus. As a young man Perseus undertook a mission to kill the Medusa. He was furnished with the sword, cap and wings of Mercury and the shield of Minerva (Athena). He killed the Medusa by cutting off her head and afterwards killed the sea monster Cetus and then rescued and married Andromeda. [Robson*, p.56.]”
To sum it up, for the purpose of exploring the effects of Capulus on a native, an oracle of Apollo told Danae’s father that her son would one day kill him.
So when Acrisius found Danae (his daughter) had a baby, he cast them out to sea in a large chest. Â They were saved by the brother (Dictys) of the king, and the king, Polydectes, wanted to marry Danae but she rejected him.
Polydectes set up a rouse to egg on the ego of Perseus. He challenged Perseus to bring him the head of Medusa!
In his journey to slay the head off of Medusa, he received help from Hermes, and Athena (Minerva) — giving Perseus the sickle of Cronos (Saturn) that was used to overpower Uranus and that Zeus used against Typhoeus. Athena also gave him a shield to protect him from the image of Medusa. Hermes gave him winged sandals. He also received from the Nymphs of the North, the cap of darkness (invisibility), and a “magic wallet” to put the head inside.
In the end, Perseus successfully slayed Medusa. He also accidentally hit Acrisisus with a discus in a game on the way back to King Polydectes, and that’s what killed him.

What the Myth Tells Us About the Fixed Star Capulus
After reading about the myth at the Greek mythology site, I came up with the following:
Not having any money but receiving and using one’s natural resources to get a job done.

An unknown yet noble birth or heritage.
Help when you need it most.
Receiving resources, gifts, and tools to do a very hard job.

Planetary Connections
While I connect Algol to Mercury or Venus (in aspect to Pluto especially as a square or opposition), I connect Capulus to Mars / Mercury (in aspect to Jupiter, especially as a Trine or Sextile). Truly these stars are partners: Deep, and penetrating. Alive, you’ll feel. So Algol is like Venus, and Capulus like Mars. Venus Conjunct or Opposition Mars! With the potential of being Venus Trine or Sextile Mars. They can make a good team / pair or be totally at odds with each other!
I connect Jupiter to Capulus because he traveled far distances, and had a righteous attitude at times. And Mars for the fighting, and brave spirit. Capulus is not hidden. It is in your face.

A New & Modern Interpretation: Capulus
Traditional and not-so traditional meanings of Capulus include:

The Myths
Don’t stare the monster in the face, or it will be the death of you. Perseus was able to avoid death by avoiding Medusa’s gaze through using his shield to monitor her reflection.
I’ve found that Algol natives can become narcissistic adults, due to the the smothering and over attention given to them by their mothers — the exact opposite that Capulus natives usually experience (Algol / Capulus natives may experience both extremes).
Capulus, Algol, and the Medusa myth ties into the myth of Narcissus. There are common threads between the myths such as Narcissus being the product of a rape, and being a descendant of Oceanus.
In the Narcissus myth, 1. a sword was involved wherein an admirer of Narcissus (like Algol) was indirectly told to prove how much he loved Narcissus, by killing himself. 2. Artemis (like Capulus) made Narcissus fall in love with himself as punishment for planting the seed for another to destroy themselves. and 3. Narcissus is not in love with himself, but a reflection of himself — the reflection the Algol native tries to project onto a Capulus native or inflicts upon himself if he also has Capulus. In either case Capulus will attempt to cut the damaged parts out, by turning the mirror around.
Oddly, I have had a reproduction painting of Narcissus and Echo on my bathroom door for years that was given to me by one of my Algol exes parents.

Gavel
The word gavel brings to mind the word judge. Capulus natives lay down the law. They are no nonsense ball-breakers! An interesting thing is that I liken Capulus with Mars, and Algol with Venus, whereas the keyword “judge” is most aligned with Libra (Venus) so it’s a dance between these two fixed stars, for sure.
God’s Acre
Comes from “German Gottesacker, from Gott (God) + Acker (field). The allusion is that the bodies of the dead are sown in the field in hope of resurrection.” Source
This reminds me of how the Chinese viewed Algol influence — a Pile of Corpses. Perhaps Capulus takes the bad, and tries to turn it into good. Or Capulus challenges Algol to move to a higher ground, a higher place — to end their misery. Capulus resurrects Algol.
Perseus
Perseus might come from the “ancient Greek verb, “Ï€ÎÏθειν” (perthein), “to waste, ravage, sack, destroyâ€, some form of which appears in Homeric epithets.” Source
This reminds me of the word persecute: ” to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, especially because of religion, race, or beliefs; harass persistently or to annoy or trouble persistently. worry, badger, vex, bother, pester. ” Source
I won’t let something go easily. I won’t let someone hide, pretend, and to blame the outside, or shun responsibility for their actions. I pester persistently. Yup, I’ve done that. And generally for the health of both myself and the other as the motivating reason. In other words: if I don’t care, I won’t pester. But I don’t want to do it anymore. It seems to hurt me more, and not help the other — so working on it through this article to solve the problem!

While the basic meaning of this say refers to ‘a lifetime’ — from birth to death, I also I interpret this as: We made you, and we can break you.
Capulus is the masculine myth connected to the father (Capricorn), and Algol is the feminine myth connected to the mother (Cancer). Capulus and Algol represent the story of how mother and father makes and breaks their children.
The idiom, From the cradle to the grave, further indicates how Capulus is the last stop. ie. The buck stops here, and Put a cap on it — other Capulus related sayings.
It was not uncommon in the Middle Ages for a person to cut the nose off of another for various reasons, including punishment from the state, or as an act of revenge.[4] Cognitive scientist Steven Pinker notes that the phrase may have originated from this practice, as at this time “cutting off someone’s nose was the prototypical act of spite.”[5]
The expression has since become a blanket term for (often unwise) self-destructive actions motivated purely by anger or desire for revenge. For example, if a man was angered by his wife, he might burn down their house to punish her; however, burning down her house would also mean burning down his, along with all their combustible personal possessions.

I believe I’m a bit of a “ball breaker”. One of my exes said he was “emotionally constipated” until he met me. He has Mars Conjunct Algol. I imagine, I am and have been the counterpart of Algol men. I’m known for not taking crap. Capulus is connected to Mercury, and that means that natives with Capulus in their charts tend to be mental slicers and dicers — that, I am. If it smells like crap, it is crap, and the Capulus native isn’t afraid to communicate that.
Capulus often sounds to me like Cap you-r ass. To me, that means attempting to put an end to a**hole behaviour.
I believe there might be a strong indication that Algol natives have narcissistic tendencies if not having full blown NPD. Sam Vaknin, writer of Malignant Self-Love: Narcissism Revisited (and also a self-disclosed narcissist) stated that narcissism is caused by “overweening, smothering, spoiling, overvaluing, and idolizing the child”, and are “all forms of parental abuse.” Capulus natives rarely entertain any of this even if they might fall in love with an Algol native (or be an Algol native who is in love with himself, not really). However, they can be seen as invasive and end up spending too much attention on the Algol partner. As I wrote in Fixed star Algol, Taurus: The Sexual, Emotional, & Psychological Drives of Heterosexual Men with Algol, their mate (often a Capuuls one) takes on the role that mother did — at least, the native attempts to create that dynamic as much s they’ll reject it later.
Capulus natives have strong BS detectors, and will shut down anything that appears as abusive or improper. Unfortunately beating another up, or oneself (if the native has Algol too) can be destructive and not helpful. Having said that, Algol natives are highly attracted to Capulus natives and vice versa as they try to play out their myth to completion.
In fact, as I dove into my Capulus article, Algol was never too far away. Many ‘couples or twosomes’ of crime (especially sexual and violent crime) have this combination: Karla Homolka (Capulus) and Paul Bernardo (Algol), Ronald Poppo (Algol & Capulus stellium) and Rudy Eugene (Mars Aquarius squaring Ronald’s Algol) , and Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch (Capulus, wrote masochistic novels) - Marquis de Sade (Algol, wrote sadistic novels) .

Capulus Women: Role Reversal, Relationships, and Male Sexual Energy

Capulus women are CAPtivating (to seize, to capture).
If you’re a Capulus woman, partnered with an Algol man or woman — you’re often working with role reversal. Capulus women tend to have a masculine edge (sexual too), ultra strong, and no nonsense disposition with a tough exterior yet a softness that is clearly seen lurking behind. There also seems, at times, a sadness.
Algol men tend to have a feminine edge (sexual too), weakened, and victimized disposition with a sensitive exterior yet a hardness is clearly seen lurking behind. There also seems, at times, an indifference.
Both are intense creatures, and can become vicious when feeling attacked. They also have a crafty / strategic nature.
Capulus is the masculine myth connected to the father (Capricorn), and Algol is the feminine myth connected to the mother (Cancer). Capulus and Algol represent the story of how mother and father makes and breaks their children.
Capulus women most likely identified more strongly with their father, while growing up, rather than their mother — yet their father were often unavailable to them or they may have sought their approval. The reverse is true for the Algol male. The mother of these men provided too much availability, and approval.
A Capulus woman is the counterpart of the Algol male. Algol men need and appreciate that, even if they fight it. It’s the much needed reality check.
The Capulus native acts as judge and jury, and self-punishes in an honorable way. Unlike their Algol counterparts, many Capulus women did not receive the nurturing they needed. This caused them to become extremely self-reliant. They can not only take care of themselves, but take care of others — others, who by all rights, ought to be taking care of themselves. The Algol native, often can only take care of themselves (if that), and when they self-punish it is more like self-berating. It is not honorable, or of a higher mind.
The unfortunate situation is that in a relationship, the Capulus native will berate the Algol native without being aware of their self-berating since they do not operate in the same manner. When the Capulus native punishes themselves, they accept the punishment for any crime (mistake) done. They rarely feel bad about redressing the situation, and take full responsibility for their actions. Naturally, they will believe the Algol native will do the same and trouble brews when they don’t.
The key is to make the punishment fit the crime. Sometimes Capulus overdoes it with Algol. Again, because Algol already does self-berating, it doesn’t need any more from Capulus. And it’s especially problematic when the native has both Algol and Capulus in their chart.
While browsing the natal chart section of this article, I hope you’ll notice that all the pictures of Capulus women show an intense and unabashed sexuality which is often considered typically male. Capulus women ooze sex appeal, without trying. There is a message in their appearance and physical energy that says to the viewer: I’m confident about my sexuality, and you may get to experience it (in some way) if you’re worthy.
To Algol natives, this is like sniffing candy. What the Capulus woman has, they want. It’s what they are unfortunately missing, as an adult, because of Mommy Dearest. There are mixed up sexual / control themes that he tries to live out with his lover — hoping to turn the tables. This is another reason why he is enamored with the female’s male sexual energy. He hopes to turn her back to her natural state, so-to-speak — one he does not fear. So the Capulus woman is to any man, one that is feared yet revered.
To say the least, both Capulus and Algol natives are intense sexual creatures of mythical proportions.
Capulus natives have zero tolerance for the monster within others. Any beast shall be slayed — firmly and swiftly. Algol natives, who also have Capulus, are demons and slayers. They can demonize their prey, and slay them when they fight back. It’s quite the dance. The demon slayers would do well, slaying their own demons while leaving their romantic partners alone. That, or using their demon slaying powers in their jobs — where it would be appreciated.

Having Capulus (with or without Algol) is a great placement for a lawyer, judge, criminal investigations, police work, or someone working in advocacy, interventions, or activism. It is also great for anyone who needs to cut through diamonds to find the gems. Business people do well because it requires a certain constitution and ruthlessness to make it to the top. Ruthlessness, as it relates to finding and seizing opportunities quickly and without mercy. Actors with Capulus do well in movies and shows that have themes of destruction, against all odds, or persecution of criminals. The following Capulus natives were fascinated and became famous for their fascination of the heads of themselves or others. Some natives manifest this fascination in constructive ways, while others manifest it in destructive ways.
Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera
Frida had been long since one of my favorite artists so I’ll be sure to write up a blog about her, and the AGO – Art Gallery of Ontario exhibit I recently visited, when I get the time.
I’m no longer surprised that I had such a connection. When I had discovered her, I had been at the tail end of a very difficult break-up with a Mars Conjunct Algol native. And her and I also share Capulus.

Yes, she most certainly was playing out a myth, primarily Algol & Capulus and the myth of Medusa and Perseus.
Not oddly Frida Kahlo (Midheaven Conjunct Capulus &Â Algol and possibly Moon Conjunct Algol) and Diego Rivera (Neptune Conjunct Algol) have Algol .
At the gallery, I was listening to a pre-recorded message by Dr. Salomon Grimberg, Kahlo expert and author of Frida Kahlo: Song of Herself. In it he said, “Diego enjoyed being cruel and mean to her” but Frida “didn’t want to be abandoned” so she “went along with it” and didn’t leave. Algol natives have issues with abandonment. Dr. Grimberg said that Frida abused alcohol and pain killers, and was a “cutter”, letting people cut her, “through her operations”. He stated that Deigo was “as mean as the devil”.
Frida said of Diego, “I would always like to hold him like a newly born child”. This is Capulus energy of the Algol infantile wounds, that Algol natives are so keen on expressing.
“Self-Portrait with Cropped Hair†was the first self-portrait iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo created after her divorce from artist Diego Rivera. Renouncing the feminine image depicted in her other self-portraits, Kahlo (1907 – 1954) has just cut off the long hair Rivera admired, and is wearing a suit that was most likely his. Conveying the deep sorrow of her loss, the image appears to express Kahlo’s yearning for the freedom and independence of a man. The large empty space around Kahlo suggests the depth of her loneliness and misery, and the song verse above her reads, “See, if I loved you, it was for your hair, Now you’re bald, I don’t love you anymore.†Source
Vidal Sassoon
After watching a documentary about Vidal Sassoon, I decided to look at his chart and noticed he had shown a number of Capulus aspects. So I did some research on other hair cutters, and found Capulus to be prominent. Unfortunately I had forgotten that I put in a time of birth for Vidal that wasn’t correct. I still imagine that he has Capulus in paran to at least one of his planets. At any rate, I include him here because his signature very short (male sexuality ie Capulus) angular hair cuts and personality are very much Capulus inspired.
Raymond Bessone
Raymond Bessone (who inspired Vidal Sasson) was born on May 11, 1911 and has his Sun at 20° which creates a Capulus Conjunction to his Sun. At the time of his birth, Capulus was at 22° 57. While Algol has one getting their head cut off (by Capulus, no doubt), Capulus cuts people’s heads off (metaphorically or literally) as is the case with hair cutters, cutting the hairs off our heads.
Every myth, I have read to-date (less than two handfuls) seem to contain destructive interference by a God. The reason, thus far, seems to be related to gaining control and power over another God through other Gods, demi-Gods, or other earthly creatures. And the outcomes are often vicious, and without mercy.
Finding Strength and the Lessons in Capulus
I’ll probably come back to this section. I’m still thinking it all through. I know what to do for myself; however, I want to be sure the message I convey to readers is a pure one. As in, whatever I say is as purely related to Capulus as possible. Because I’m so close to the subject (having Saturn Conjunct Capulus), it has been a little harder to gain the objectivity needed. So refer back to the section: What the Myth Tells Us About the Fixed Star Capulus to gain a better understanding of the strengths, gifts, and lessons that Capulus can bestow.
For now, I can tell you that Capulus natives are strong of character and often, body. There is great potential for lifting oneself out of dumps, and achieving great success.
If you or your loved one has Capulus in their chart, these natives are often compelled to take charge of your life or situation because you or the situation has indicated, in one way or another, that there’s inability to self-manage. Often people reject this intrusive behavior (as they should) but unfortunately they don’t take control so the Capulus native is put in an odd situation of doing nothing when the raw energy of Capulus is to do. So where does that leave the Capulus native?
Their Algol counterparts need to, without a doubt, affirm and demonstrate they can self-manage and have proper conduct, and when they don’t — they take care of redressing the situation. Because if they don’t there are three things that could happen:Â 1. The healthy Capulus native cuts you out of their life, and you lose great support, 2. The Capulus native keeps cutting you because they care about you, but you continue to feel wounded, 3. They stop harassing you, but they also start ignoring you too, and are possibly ever-ready to move on. And frankly, they don’t care much about you in this scenario.
Capulus & You
Do you or your loved one have Capulus? Yes, you do. Fixed stars usually have a 1-3° orb. Capulus is currently at 24° and moves very slowly. Go see where on your chart 21-27° (depending on when you were born) Taurus resides. You may not have any planets, or celestial items connected to it; however, the house the degree resides will tell you about how and where Capulus can manifest in your life. Do note that Zauruk, and Algol are the next closest stars and are currently at 24, 26° so you may have one of those as well.

Aspect Delineation Sample:
Saturn Conjunct Capulus:  When you don’t know what to do, this native will. There is karma, testing, captivity, and hardship with this aspect but also wisdom, and valor to cut through and do what most won’t or can’t. Follow through, and carrying out of tasks and responsibilities are of utmost importance. It can cause depression if one is failing at their attempt to successfully cut out the crap. And there will be many blocks, and obstacles. Eventually, the native gains the maturity and wisdom in how to use their natural parental slicing and dicing skills to help those around them stand on their own feet. This aspect describes a native who believes in rules of conduct, and has a stoic temperament as well as a strong constitution. If people that get close to this self-controlled yet fierce native, don’t have strong morals or rules, the native will enforce their own, upon them, and with great tenacity. They will punish those that won’t or can’t punish themselves. Natives with this aspect can be ambitious, and find great success but only after the feeling that it took so long and so much work to get there. Given that Saturn relates to the world, the native often makes a strong impact on the world’s consciousness, especially for what they say. Valient action, relieves Saturnian boredom, and inspires a feeling of being alive. This native believes in being fair, and truly cares about the well-being of all but tends to be quite the stern ball-breaker and task master — often enacting tough love.

Eye Color of Capulus & Algol natives. I wasn’t sure where to put this as it’s a small but notable characteristic of Algol and Capulus natives that popped out at me while doing research on these fixed stars. While the ascendant, and Sun often describe how a person will look or appear, I have found that Capulus natives tend to have very dark brown (appearing as almost black) eyes and Algol natives have light eyes in this order of frequency: Blue, Green, and Hazel (least likely, light brown) with odd flecks and coloring near the iris. It doesn’t matter their ethnic background either. If the native has both Capulus and Algol, eye color depends on which star is closer in orb that will determine their eye color. Often Algol is the stronger influence so if this is the case, the Capulus (with Algol) native will often have dark blue eyes if not still dark brown. I have no idea why this seems to be the case! If you have a theory, please share it in the comments section.

I focused my Algol post on hetero men with Algol and the women they love and lose; however, I decided to make this one more open ended. A lot of Algol men will ALSO have Capulus, and men with Algol have the feminine Venusian influence while women with Capulus have the male Martian influence. In any case, in this section I focus on the women and highlight the men. 😀

I have connected with many men, of importance to me, with Algol influencing them. Recently, I met another so I went to find information about the “most evil star in the heavens” [Robson*, p.124.].
I’m focusing on heterosexual men and their interest in women because that’s where I have the most intimate experience with Algol. One of the online articles I most enjoyed reading (great delineation info in the Artists & Algol and Keywords section) was published by Marina of Darkstar Astrology. While reading her article about Algol, I remembered that during my Goth phase (I’ve got the reinvention aspect that Madonna and David Bowie have as we share similar chart signatures) I had done an art and poem piece on the beauty and strength of Medusa without knowing much more than what she looked like and that she could turn men into stone.
Since a young child I had a fascination with the Medusa Myth, without ever really studying it. My hair is naturally wild and is corkscrew curly. Innately I knew that I was more intense then most of the other children. After reading Marina’s article I realized I may have a personal connection to or I have been playing out the myth of Medusa with Algol men without really knowing it.
Interesting to note, Jupiter returned to 25° Taurus on May, 22, 2012 (this year)! I wrote about Algol a day after I experienced an Algol influenced male (Article One, and two) and I didn’t even know Jupiter had conjunct Algol on that day! And the last blog post I did was on June 14th which is when Jupiter first entered Gemini at 0°. The cosmos are freaky!
Today, the world transits related to Algol are:
Mars and North Node at 26° Scorpio Opposite Algol
Venus is 27° Leo Square Algol
Astrologers usually only recognize the conjunction as having the greatest and/or purest impact; however, I read these transits as a time for the Algol male to clean up his act — face the truth, and heal through their own love, leadership, and warmth of self.
And considering in December 2012, Algol Conjunct SN. Algol may become a thing of the past.
I think the Algol men, of women who have experienced their lowest selves, will have their Algol ‘put to rest’ and thrown into the “pile of corpses” they once created. Healing is coming. It’s no accident I’m talking about all this during Saturn Scorpio — which I see as liberating and related to maturity rather than restriction.

Minerva and Athene are in my 7th house conjunct my Sun which is conjunct my Mars. Neptune is in my 10th.Pallas is in my 2nd house in Pisces and conjunct my North Node. I have Algol, as a degree, in my 4th house. It is not conjunct anything though the closest conjunction would be with Saturn, if it were in orb.
The Medusa Myth
There are many ways that the Medusa myth is expressed. I’m sure you’ll find many versions. This is the one I’m working from:
Legend has it that “Algol [also known as the demon star or death star] represents the head of the Gorgon Medusa who was slain by Perseus. Medusa, who was the only mortal one of the three Gorgon sisters, was originally a beautiful maiden, but her hair was changed into hissing serpents by Minerva in consequence of her having become [raped and impregnanted] by Neptune [Medusa is the mother of Chrysaor and Pegasus], in one of Minerva’s temples. This gave her so fearful an appearance that everyone who looked at her was changed into stone. [Robson*, p.123.]”.

Medusa, Virgin Priestess of Athena (Vestal Virgin) — assigned Virgo, then transformed into Scorpio
Neptune (aka Poseidon), Rapist or Seducer — assigned Pisces
Algol, being connected to Taurus, means that the opposite sign is Scorpio. Given Scorpio is co-ruled by Vesta, the keeper of the Vestal Virgins I liken Medusa with the sign of Scorpio as well as Virgo, the Virgin (domicile of Vesta). Algol is positioned in near the third eye of Medusa’s head. Also, Medusa is connected to Minerva who is (in turn) connected to Pluto. It was in Minerva’s temple that Medusa, a Vestal Virgin, was defiled by Neptune (Pisces).

Diego Rivera (Neptune 25° 52′ Conjunct Algol & Moon 20° 27′ Conjunct Capulus & Algol), & his partner Frida Kahlo (Midheaven 23° 25′ Conjunct Capulus & Algol). And while Frida’s Moon 29° 43′ is generally considered too wide to conjunct Algol, it is at a critical degree near Algol and just conjuncts Diego’s Moon.
A man with Algol in his chart fears, yet encourages the deep dark power of the woman he’s mesmerized by. He is drawn to her strength and divine beauty, yet he has something within him that wishes to see the brutality, and dark beauty in her, and he’ll draw it out by any means necessary.
He desires and admires a fiercely independent woman, especially financially and sexually (timidity being rejected as non-attractive) yet by his own unconscious actions can cause dependence, and lack of confidence that previously did not exist in her but did or does in him.
I see this as a transference. What the woman has, he wants and the only way he feels he can get it is by taking her power away and giving it to himself.
With the Algol male, he may lure the Medusa archetype in by suggesting he is benign and docile, and worships her strength, when in fact — he is not and does not. The good old unconscious bait and switch. He is a monster, and he sets out to create a monster.
The Algol man is also able to get into the mind of his woman or women of choice. He can read what motivates her, and see right through her –Â to her weaknesses. In many ways this also makes him quite attractive to Medusa type women who may be difficult to understand and yearn to be known.
And he can put his woman to ‘sleep’ just as easily as he can ‘arouse’ her system.
I get a sense that something traumatic (ie emotional and/or sexual abuse) happened to these sensitive men when they were children, potentially with the most important woman of their life — their mother. The Algol man is attempting to resolve his issues (often related to a denial of independence and/or a demand to take care of Mother because Father wouldn’t, wasn’t around, or wasn’t available) with Mother through intimate and sexual encounters with women. To me, this is considered a safe shift.
When the Algol male feels seared by a strong woman (what he encourages through his unconscious actions and desires), he will then attempt to cut her power in a musical chair dance of emotional and often, sexual abuse. The resulting effect is self-esteem and confidence busting and that makes the perceived and hidden inadequacies of the man more tolerable for himself yet he is generally fully aware of sabotaging the woman and the good relationship he actually wants but doesn’t know how to have.
A man with Algol is only fiercely attracted to the strongest of women. No other woman is worth his time or effort in subduing, and taming, yet encouraging her wild and beastly side at the same time. He wants to own the rabid yet innocent whore when all other men might view her as just the loyal virgin. He can not get this charge from any other woman for he could not then access his often unacknowledged deep desire for power and control of the woman. This is the same woman who would turn any other man to stone but for the Algol male, she will eventually submit and be at his mercy by averting her gaze.
You’ll find any man, not wanting to succumb to the archetypical Medusa female, will avert his gaze for fear of getting drawn in and fixated by her.
It is unfortunate that the Algol male feels he has to subjugate or tame his Medusa. But the lowering of her power is essentially due to wanting to regain his own lost power (held deeply within the woman of his desires, Medusa, aka his Mother) due to feelings of inadequacy and fear so he chooses and is most attracted to women who will ignite this dynamic so he can play out his myth.
Unfortunately, the Algol male is not ever satisfied. He is lustful in his pursuit of the whore while having the Virgin. Basically, at his command, he wants the woman to be powerful or docile. But can a truly powerful woman accept these commands? Wouldn’t she be considered submissive? This is the dichotomy of the what the Algol man wants — perhaps, a fantasy woman.
And after the Algol male defiles his woman, he secretly hopes she will turn back into the beautiful vestal virgin that she once was.
The object of the Algol male’s desire has intense sexual power over him that he fears yet is tremendously excited about. But he also feels he may be inadequate — can he live up to her and her desires? If he senses the woman might emasculate or leave him, he may begin to automatically and unconsciously behave in ways that are considered mean, destructive, evil, and ruthless in order to avoid that from happening or happening again (as it did with Mother or was threatened by her).
In reality, the Algol male is a sexual God, sex Guru, a Porn Star of the morning’s light. He is not inadequate, and has immense personal and sexual power irrespective of the object of his affection. The more the woman of his affection communicates this, it can help heal; however, the male is best to do his part in healing his infantile wounds.
The man with Algol is often seen as introverted, hidden, and/or reclusive.
The Algol man knows of his “dark passenger” and he is often drawn to horror, and hobbies that are violent, aggressive, or potentially lethal or one’s that mimic it. This is a safe way to excercise their demons. Speed based hobbies are also notable in the Algol man.

Looking through the lens of Algol, with a focus on male heterosexuality — learn of Pablo Picasso (with his wife and mistresses), Paul Bernardo (with Karla Homolka), and Jean-Paul Sarte (with Simone de Beauvoir) and their women. All these men have Jupiter Conjunct Algol.
Note that the Algol man doesn’t seem as moved by the tears of the woman but he tries to understand it. Think Pablo Picasso and the horrific paintings he did of the beautiful women he bed. He put them in so much pain and then captured the pain permanently — MAJOR Algol.
Agol Mothers Speak
When I spoke with mothers of Algol men, they suggested that their sons displayed an inability to deal with their life so they dealt with life for them even in their adulthood (such as still buying their 30 year old their underwear and socks). They said that it was their sons that couldn’t “cut the umbilical cord”. But when I witnessed their behaviour, I saw that it was the Mother who was subliminally telling the son that she needed him to depend on her so that’s what he gave or gives her. She just can’t let go, and it’s often only in death that the son feels free of her clutches. One mother finally admitted that when she separated from her son’s father, she was worried that she was leaning on her son too much since she was so used to making decisions with her husband, who was no longer around. It’s a twisted and complex web that is weaved but clearly both mother and son participate in the son’s downfall. And it is ultimately the son that must find the courage and conviction to separate from his mother by separating the mother from his wife, lover, or girlfriend without destroying the relationship he has with these women.
Note: Algol mothers often don’t want or can’t bare their sons making any mistakes so they make decisions for them. Then when these boys grow up to be men, they are not equipped to make good decisions or take care of their lives, or their wives. This is where the lover, girlfriend, wife, or partner of the Algol male takes over, and where resentment begins for the male. He, yet again, is told how to run his life and he doesn’t like it one bit. The problem? The Algol male is attracted to what he knows in a woman — his mother. He often attracts Capulus or Algol women.
Freud would find joy in me saying that even if a male with Algol doesn’t have overt sexual desires of dominance, it still lurks beneath and often rules many of his aggressive and emotional impulses towards females.
Neptune rules Pisces. When we think of Pisces, we may think of words like submissive, docile, and uncertain yet Neptune (aka Poseidon) raped Medusa and that delivered her to the fate of being turned from a beautiful, chaste, loyal, servicing, and pure woman (Virgo) into an ugly, defiled, betrayed, and rabid whore (a side of Scorpio) who has been marked with pregnancy.
Scorpio is the opposite of Taurus! Taurus is in Algol.
Algol is like Mercury or Venus in aspect to Pluto especially as a square or opposition.
“In 1940, Sigmund Freud’s Das Medusenhaupt (Medusa’s Head) was published posthumously. This article laid the framework for his significant contribution to a body of criticism surrounding the monster. Medusa is presented as “the supreme talisman who provides the image of castration — associated in the child’s mind with the discovery of maternal sexuality — and its denial.“[9] Psychoanalysis continue archetypal literary criticism to the present day: Beth Seelig analyzes Medusa’s punishment from the aspect of the crime of having been raped rather than having willingly consented in Athena’s temple as an outcome of the goddess’ unresolved conflicts with her own father, Zeus.[10]” Source
God Control & Domination
What’s intriguing is that Pisces is below Scorpio as it’s a mutable sign and Scorpio is a fixed sign. Was Neptune trying to reach (dominate) Minerva (1) through the acquiescing Medusa? If Medusa is to be considered connected to Virgo, then Medusa and Neptune were opposites (by sign) and that indicates vacillation between two extremes yet a mindful merging can sear the two together. In that way, Neptune could cross over to Minerva’s domain and merge with her. (2)
Playing Out The Myths
Do we play out the stories of the Gods? Do we live out myths and archetypes in our every-day stories? To me, each of us are magnificent beings. Our stories and psyche are incredibly intense.
Healing Algol
I don’t have all the answers. It’s through discussion and experience with Algol men, as well as learning about famous Algol men and connecting it back to my own experiences and insights, that I’ve come to understand as little as I have today.
I feel like there is something deeply psychological about Algol and how to heal it. I’m not trained in psychology so if you have the knowledge, please share the technical terms and meaning when you see it in this article. I would greatly appreciate that as it kind of feels like I’m feeling my way through the dark.
Questions…
Can Algol possess or respect both the virgin and the whore in one woman without lowering her self-esteem and power? Does the Algol man reach deeply into the archetype of Medusa within the woman? Can he heal her? If he does, does he then destroy her? Does he have deep insight into what makes her tick? Is it asking too much of the woman to be loyal and gentle yet be a sexual whore and have the strength to be self-reliant all the same?
By the end of this article, I did manage to come up some suggestions…
The Algol male is a sexual God, sex Guru, a porn star of morning’s light. He is not inadequate, and has immense personal and sexual power irrespective of the object of his affection. The more the woman of his affection communicates this, it can help heal; however, the male is best to do his part in healing his infantile wounds.
If the Algol male wishes to end the cycle and heal his wounded experience with his mother or early powerful female caregiver, he can consider completing his separation of mother through taking full control of his life. Through demonstrating he can take charge of his own life, any woman in his life can destroy the role of mother and focus on being the girlfriend, lover, or wife. If the woman continues to take on the role / archetype of mother with an Algol male, she will eventually experience pain and heartache as he attempts to resolve his mother issues with them by cutting off her head or getting to cut her own head off (her ego power) so-to-speak before she castrates him with help and nurturing he can not consciously stomach even if he subconsciously desires and encourages it. To the Algol male: You’ve got a set of balls, USE them. Self-control or be controlled. Raise your own power without taking away the power of another. Mother yourself, and maybe even mother your lover. Your mother or the woman you love, who engages in the Mother / Medusa archetype with you, can not let you go or allow you to be the adult you are until you prove that you’ll be safe and can go it on your own. No blame. No victimization. Claim your place as a separate and distinct adult, making your own healthy and successful decisions without pushing away the Medusa — face her head on, as an equal. And don’t cut corners, also known as being lazy.
To women attracted to Algol men:
Feeling ALIVE…
In the end, a relationship with an Algol man will be one of the deepest connections you can ever make as you represent Mother! An Algol man isn’t for the faint of heart — only the strongest of women will do for him. And he will respect you as long as you keep strong no matter how much he might try to chip away at you but we all have our breaking point!
You like to serve and are receptive to being influenced, as was the case with Medusa in the temple. In your core, you are innocent and naive but as a child you were hurt and left alone to fend for yourself far too often — unprotected and inappropriately used by a strong and hard-to-access female figure (such as your Mother). As an adult, you’re working out the Medusa myth.
Know that the Algol male desires your nurturing, attention, and firm hand, but while that’s comforting (like being back in the womb), it can be overwhelming, intrusive, and block his man-hood.
As hard as it may be, it is incredibly important that you be his girlfriend, lover, or wife — not his Mother.
Just get out of his business, and if he cries about that — tell him that the only way you’ll get back in is if he doesn’t resist or try to control you (that which he feels you’re doing with him!). He has to stand up and face you head-on if you’re the one he really wants — no tricks (like he mirror with Medusa), and in a disciplined and strong way.
Mother yourself or as strange as it may seem, ask the Algol male to mother you — giving you both an opportunity to experience what you missed out on. You need some tenderness now and then too. You also need some motherly direction.
While missing out on nurturing and guidance aided you to become a strong and independent woman, with the freedom to make her own strong opinions and desires, it’s left — below the surface — a woman who desires to be lead and be taken care of.
So now, due to that deficiency in yourself, you’re overcompensating by nurturing and guiding the Algol male; however, do know that while initially they find it loving and enjoy the attention, eventually they’ll turn on you — resent you — for doing it. That’s the dichotomy. They desire to be mothered but what they really want is to grow up, and you’re holding them back — just like their mother did.
So what will they do:Â Resist and subjugate you.
When Algol is involved, the myth played out between you and your person of interest is quite twisty and messy. It can be hard to wrap one’s head around it. It’s like a labyrinth.
If you believe the Algol male is not viable (won’t get his sheat together) in a partnership with you, is unwilling to stand up and be the strong and leading man that he truly is without having to cut you down (in the process) — it may be time to rethink being with this type of man for you’re likely only to end up destroying yourself, while loving him.
There’s also another side to being attracted to an Algol man and that’s that the woman of his affections realizes how powerful he really is. Perhaps she wants to turn the tables too and have him mother her (as I mentioned above as a solution). But instead of him doing that, he is self-focused on getting YOU to stop mothering him.
Quite frankly even if there are only you and the Algol male in the union, there’s a third presence (even if that presence is within you because you’re playing two roles — Mother and Lover).
Algol men have edge, and many women are attracted to dangerous men.
And these men have an ability to see great beauty in your imperfections. In fact, the Algol male often love scars, and other deformities and differences that the woman may consider ugly.
In the end, what’s in it for you? And how can you complete your Medusa myth once and for all — with or without the Algol male you may be with at this time?

Algol & You
Do you or your loved one have Algol? Yes, you do. Fixed stars usually have a 1-3° orb. Algol is currently at 26° and moves very slowly. Go see where on your chart 22-29° (depending on when you were born) Taurus resides. You may not have any planets, or celestial items connected to it; however, the house the degree resides will tell you about how and where Algol can manifest in your life — it isn’t all overtly sexual (as is the focus of this article). Do note that Zauruk, Capulus, and the Pleiades are the next closest stars and are currently at 24, 24, and 29°.
Sun Conjunct Algol natives seem to have integrated their Algol in a “what you see, is what you get”. There seems to be nothing hidden and they can ooze sex appeal in a strong and dominating manner. They don’t seem to make any excuses for who and what they are. They tend to celebrate their fierceness and/or intensity.
If you want me to delineate an aspect or angle that is made with Algol, please book a session. I know a lot more about Algol than I’ve written here.
Basically I just wanted to make a point with the aspect above that the native with Algol can be very aware (conscious) of their power and natural control (or influence) over others and can use it constructively and without apology.
Eye Color of Algol & Capulus natives. I wasn’t sure where to put this as it’s a small but notable characteristic of Algol and Capulus natives that popped out at me while doing research on these fixed stars. While the ascendant, and Sun often describe how a person will look or appear, I have found that Capulus natives tend to have very dark brown (appearing as almost black) eyes and Algol natives have light eyes in this order of frequency: Blue, Green, and Hazel (least likely, light brown) with odd flecks and coloring near the iris. It doesn’t matter their ethnic background either. If the native has both Capulus and Algol, eye color depends on which star is closer in orb that will determine their eye color. Often Algol is the stronger influence so if this is the case, the Capulus (with Algol) native will often have dark blue eyes if not still dark brown. I have no idea why this seems to be the case! If you have a theory, please share it in the comments section.

1. Minerva is also Athene or Athena. Athena is known to be ruled by Mars. Mars co-rules Scorpio. Isabel M. Hickey wrote of Minerva being connected to Pluto.
2. Having realized that Neptune was seeking control over Minerva (Athena, Pluto) I decided to do a search on the two of them and excitedly found this:

Interestingly, Neptune was not only the least aspected to Algol but also there were hardly as many recognizable celebrities that have it in their charts.

As many astrologers would agree, one aspect or signature does not tell the full tale.
How could someone who loves to sing (me!) actually sound good (maybe) if they don’t have the classic aspects for a vocalist — Sun Conjunct Venus or Mercury, and Venus Conjunct Mercury?!
Well, my Venus is in Virgo and it goes like this:
* Venus in the 6th or 3rd
* Mercury in the 7th or 2nd
* Venus Conjunct Vesta
* Venus Conjunct Mercury
Phew, all from one planet and one sign combination!
Getting to Venus Conjunct Mercury, with this method, shows that I have underdeveloped singing talent!
I may not become a superstar vocalist but I do have it in the astrological DNA or as a signature, though hidden! And it’d be better if it were Venus Gemini (as Mercury has a stronger rulership over that sign)! But with practice, and training I might be able to sing where people aren’t trying to run away from my sound. Ha ha.
Or I might be able to become a one hit wonder (coming out of nowhere, the underdog!). 🙂
As probably can be discerned, one aspect or astrological signature can open the reader and seeker to so much more. That’s one reason why astrology is complex (yet simple, at the same time).
When I tell you that I have Venus Virgo, you know at least FOUR things about me (see the bullets!).
You know that I:
* love to talk and communicate with all sorts of people.
* love to serve and I am a devoted lover.
* make money from communicating.
* value health related things such as fitness, organic and natural food, etc.
* talk a lot to my partners and business associates.
* frequent communication, speaking, etc. is part of my daily habit or work.
* show my love to others when they are sick and that I am loved, when I am sick. Also that I get love-sick and love can sicken me! But I love to shower my love on to a partner, everyday! Yeah, I’m an affectionate PDA kind of Gal. ;P
Oh shoot, that’s more than four things (dang houses)!! And it’s still a superficial delineation.
Now with my Venus being in the 8th, I have a deep Plutonic vibe. I write my own songs and I’ll sing about themes that are often deeply painful or dark in tone (if you discover the underlying occult meaning, that is).
So, I’m not finished with my bullet points yet — with Venus in the 8th, I also have Venus Conjunct Pluto!!
Get more out of reading aspects, planet and sign, charts… feel it, know it, own it.
If there are duplicate or triplicate signatures (ie You have Venus Virgo in the 6th), you’ll know there’s a powerful theme going on — take note.

Astrology Play: Read your natal chart as if everything in it is for everyone else. For example, I have Moon in the 8th. I open up the psychic, emotional, and psychological pathways in others to discover.
Saturn in the 4th gives others a stable and secure home base, grounds others in reality and responsibility in home life. Neptune in the 10th gives people the ability to make me up, to provide magical and spiritual experiences for others. My Jupiter in the 9th Trine North Node in the 2nd provides an expansive and abundant learning experience for others to help them actualize their full potential. With North Node in the 2nd house, I’m also able to help others get paid doing ‘psychic’, ‘spiritual’, ‘dream’, or ‘art’ work since I had the same struggle. Mars Square Midheaven challenges others to get off their behind and fight for their rights and their dreams.

I’m an ‘other, public’ person (SouthWest chart) so I think about other’s on a daily basis (even w/ Sun Leo). But I noticed that a lot of people are ‘self, private’ (NorthEast chart) so when they want to get into business or assert themselves in a career, they don’t know how to step forward. Stepping forward is knowing and understanding one’s environment and what it wants. And that means, focusing on ‘other people’ and their needs so that they are interested in buying what you’re selling but you can be you. Be authentic in your sales offering by recognizing what it is in you that others want and need.

I originally started VirgoVault to share with and teach others what I was learning along the way. I have Jupiter on my 11th and 12th houses and Jupiter in the 9th house, along with a Mercury (in the 8th) Septile Jupiter so I was compelled to share as well.
Also the original intention was to create a full website, magazine style, but I found so much joy in writing about astrology that I neglected other metaphysical arts. Also, given the nature of VirgoVault (the nature of Virgo), I tended to write very long and analytical articles. But it can take many hours and days to write a VV article and lately I haven’t had as much time to do it. Having said that, my mind was still abuzz with astrological thoughts that I wanted to get down in writing before it evaporated — so I turned to Twitter. Twitter kept my writing down (in one way) as it is a spontaneous and short thing to do, and gave me an opportunity for much needed brain dumps (Gemini on the 5th/6th).
However, as much as I love socializing and answering people’s personal questions on Twitter — over time I felt like I wasn’t focused on ‘paid work’ and that my tweeting wasn’t serving, serendipitously, my financial goals either. I also felt guilty about tweeting first and furious (Aries on the 3rd), without getting back and appreciating followers and friends first (my Libra wish). Having said that, I still want to share my thoughts and dump my brain so the solution is taking Astrogasm and turning it into a twitter style blog and that’s what I have done.
Regarding the name Astrogasm, I realized how ‘stale’ and ‘boring’ VirgoVault sounded and while my writing can be that way too — I wanted to reflect the rest of my personality as well. Givien I write from and about the 8th, and get excited about new things like a child would (Leo Sun), Astrogasm seemed like a great name to inject some new life into my love.

How Do You Learn? What Do You Want To Learn? What Type of Teachers Do Like Best? Do you enjoy long-term, higher mind studying or would you rather take a couple of weekend workshops and gain a certificate? The third and ninth houses tell us about our learning style, what we like to learn, how we learn it, and where we’ll learn it. It also tells us how and what we teach and communicate what we know to others.
A recent conversation got me thinking that it’s helpful for people to know this information. Why? Because it will help you connect to a teacher, course of material, etc. that fits in with your learning style, and interests. And it will give you more clues as to what you’ll end up doing for a living. Of course, a lot of people study at college or university and then don’t actually do that as a career. And one reason for that is that the 2nd, 6th, and 10th point more to how you’ll make your money and where people think you fit. If people don’t think you’re whatever you studied, they won’t support you publicly. And other houses, like the 4th might suggest that you either like working from home or would suffer working from home so if the course of study you took leads to a ‘home based’ career, you’re not likely to pursue it as a career. Problems like this have to do with vocational planning and you might not have thought your educational interests thoroughly, as it applies to actually doing it as a career.
I would say you are and that’s why I’m ‘YOUR Wisdom’ Guide. But what kind of Guru are you? What knowledge of the higher mind do YOU possess? What can and do you share with others?
I have Libra on my 9th house cusp. I have Uranus and Jupiter in the 9th (house of higher knowledge, education, and other things). I tend to be a radical thinker (Uranus) and teacher (Jupiter).
Jupiter in the 9th makes me a natural teacher so even when I’m studying and learning, I’ll end up helping my co-learners. For example, in college I became a tutor in a Uranian subject!
I like innovating and I’m into the future. I guess one could say I’m a progressive learner / teacher. I’m not for everyone because I really am different and I encourage difference. I also like one-on-one learning best (Libra) and I like a balanced and harmonious environment that is beautiful to learn within. I’m also not wishy-washy (cardinal sign Libra) in how I teach others. While I believe in ‘many ways’, I’ll unabashedly promote ‘my way’ of learning. 😉
I’m also heavily interested in relationships, justice, talking, design, business, money management, languages, getting needs met, beauty, and the arts and that’s what I love teaching and learning about in a ‘higher mind’ sort of way. So in astrology, I’m very keen about synastry and composite charts but also love reading natal charts because the you is just as important as the we (and that might be my Uranus in the 9th talking!).
As I said, I like to teach one-on-one (Libra) but also enjoy the group dynamic (Uranus in the 9th, rules Aquarius, groups) but there’s a stronger preference for one-on-one teaching that’s more focused on what the individual needs and how I can spark innate knowledge — more in a mentoring and personal kind of way. If you have Capricorn on, or Saturn (squares Libra) in your 9th you’ll probably have some difficulty adjusting to my way of learning / teaching unless you are leaning on the Aquarian side of Saturn (and even then…).

I feel the following articles really get Uranus and Jupiter in the 9th as well as Venus (as that’s the planetary ruler of my 9th house).
Because I have Libra on the 9th, that means I have Aries on the 3rd. I’m a bold, courageous, active, responsive, and assertive (even aggressive) communicator. Mercury will also tell you how you learn best. With Aries (naturally ruled by Mars) on the third (no planets within) I’m an autodidact — self-learner, and I’m quite assertive about it. I also like to call myself a ‘mental athlete’. I tend to be less interested in learning in groups and prefer individual study. In fact, in high school I ended up taking part in an Independent Study program. It’s amazing how things work themselves out, even without knowing astrology. But with knowing astrology, I think we can gain a fast-track and more pleasant life earlier on.
I also enjoy short term courses that get through material quickly. For example, I’ll be taking a short course soon and it’s connected to communication and how to communicate in a more Libran way — it’s about negotiating!! And I prefer learning where I can move, be challenged, compete, touch, and act-out. And I love and learn best, while moving, so when I work out I often like to listen to or watch an educational program as I absorb and process it better.
My Mercury (naturally ruling the 3rd house) is Septile Jupiter (the 9th house, where I have Jupiter Libra). So I have Mercury Septile Jupiter. My Mercury is in the 8th house so I’ll often communicate about occult subjects and be interested in finding the gems, and little known bits and pieces of insights.

I still want to publish a 2012 blog post but I haven’t had the interest to complete it yet. And I wanted to publish it before publishing anything else but due to how many (in my mind) negative thoughts about Mars Rx (such as inactivity, lethargy, lack of motivation, accidents, standstills, etc..) that’s been said, I felt it important to write my thoughts about the subject.
Here’s a Yay for Retrogrades, especially this Mars Retrograde
There’s been a lot of negative thoughts and warnings about this Mars Rx and I have been trying to push them out because many forceful thoughts coming from the same place, can weave into our brains and manifest themselves. Yes, negative things can likely happen (that’s life) BUT I would like to see some balanced thought on the celestial event so I’m going to focus this article on the positive manifestations of this Rx and update this post and/or my Twitter as I experience this celestial event — providing real-life examples of what one individual can experience.
World & Personal Transits
There’s a difference between ‘world transits’ — what’s happening in the sky all over the world and ‘personal transits’ — how that stuff actually affects you personally. That’s where an astrologer can help you connect the dots and help you make the best use of this important transit.
For example, if Virgo 23° is in your 9th house, you may find yourself: thinking about going back to school to study something new, getting legal advice about an accident you had in the past, or re-planning a trip overseas that you never got around doing, etc. Other things to think about are: Where’s your own Mars and what sign is it in? How does that connect with this Mars? What planets and points, if any, connect to Virgo 23° in your chart + or – 5° (at the start of the transit). Do note that the degrees change during the transit so there is a range of ° and it doesn’t stay at 23°. In fact, the transit ends with Mars turning direct at Virgo 3°. With Mars Rx going through 20° the majority of us, if not all will feel the effects of this retrograde.
And while everyone who does experience it, will experience the Mars Rx differently — the same themes (as listed further down in this article) will occur. Some natives will experience a lot of negative manifestations due to their natural natal (birth) chart and how the transiting planets affect their natal planets. Yet other people will experience an incredible amount of energy, drive, and a welcomed increase in sexual appetite. It all depends on what was happening with Mars before the retrograde because the retrograde makes Mars related themes go in the opposite direction to what you normally experience, martian-wise.
A little About the Planets & Signs in this Rx
Planets
Mars (God of War and guardian of agriculture) is a masculine and active planet. He naturally rules Aries and co-rules Scorpio. Mars was named after the month of March and late March begins sign of Aries and the Persian New Year. The start of Aries is the start of spring in North America. It can also be seen as a good time to give birth to anything as this time sets the tone for new beginnings. Festivals were also held in March and October (late October begins Scorpio) to honor Mars.
Mars (rules Aries) was the son of Juno alone (co-rules Libra and is the opposite of Aries). Jupiter (her husband and ruler of Sagittarius) gave birth to Minerva (mentioned by Hickey as the non-destructive side of the planet Pluto who is connected to the sign Scorpio.
Mars () is the ruling planet of Aries and is exalted in Capricorn. Mars is the Roman god of war and bloodshed, whose symbol is a spear and shield. Both the soil of Mars and the hemoglobin of human blood are rich in iron, and because of this they share its distinct deep red color.[17] Mars orbits the Sun in 687 days, spending about 57.25 days in each sign of the zodiac. It is also the first planet that orbits outside of Earth’s orbit, making it the first planet that does not set along with the Sun.
Astrologically, Mars is associated with confidence and self assertion, aggression, sexuality, energy, strength, ambition, and impulsiveness. Mars governs sports, competitions and physical activities in general. The 1st-century poet Manilius, described the planet as ardent, and as the lesser malefic. In medicine, Mars presides over the genitals, the muscular system, the gonads, and adrenal glands. It was traditionally held to be hot and excessively dry, and ruled the choleric humor. It was associated with fever, accidents, trauma, pain, and surgery. In modern astrology, Mars is said to rule the first and eighth houses; traditionally, however, Mars ruled the third and tenth houses. While Venus tends to the overall relationship atmosphere, Mars is the passionate impulse and action, the masculine aspect, discipline, will-power, and stamina.
The planet Mars
Before the discovery of Pluto, it was universally considered the ruler of Scorpio. Most modern astrologers consider Pluto the ruler of Scorpio, but many regard Mars as a co-ruler, while all traditional astrologers still regard Mars as the only ruler of Scorpio.
Mars is associated with Tuesday, and in Romance languages the word for Tuesday often resembles Mars (in Romanian, marÅ£i , in Spanish, martes, in French, mardi and in Italian “martedì”). Dante Alighieri associated Mars with the liberal art of arithmetic. In Chinese astrology, Mars is ruled by the element fire, which is passionate, energetic, and adventurous. In Indian astrology, Mars is called Mangala and represents energy, confidence, and ego.
Signs
Virgo is ruled by Mercury and Vesta. When I think of Mars Rx Virgo, I think of Mars being connected to Mercury and Vesta and the types of plans the planets have for us. Plans around planning, duty, ritual, health, wellness, analysis, thought, sacred sex, communication, analysis, etc. Interestingly the last planetary Rx was in Mercury back in November /December of 2011.
With the sign Scorpio (co-ruled by Mars), the stingy tail is sticking out. The tail on the symbol of Scorpio not only represents the Scorpion but also sexuality, and the arrow that’s part of the symbol for Mars. With Virgo, the tail is tucked inside the ‘m’. Virgo (amongst other things) tends to be sexually chaste, modest, shy, inhibited, submissive, and virginal (until a pure and spiritual being opens her up and gets her to ‘forget’). The feminine sign of Virgo can have a naughty side and Mars is very good at bringing that out of her as he doesn’t take no for an answer — he keeps hitting on her until she succumbs to his efforts.
Dates
Mars entered Virgo and became retrograde on January 24th at 23° and turns direct on April 14, 2012 at 3° Virgo.
Sensitive people will feel the Rx during the shadow period which happens before and after a retrograde. So if you find yourself suddenly and naturally thinking about or doing something related to an Rx theme before it actually goes Rx or after it goes direct, you’re probably quite sensitive.
Note: Recently I’m learning about the RX shadow beginning and ending as it relates to the degrees that the RX begins and when it turns direct. This time period, as can be seen by what Cafestrology says can be lengthy. This is not my strong point in astrology (as it relates to astronomy, I think!!) and so I’ll do some investigating about this in the coming weeks. I’m thinking it has to do with how ‘fast’ a planet moves. I’ve only written about Mercury Rx before which usually is a couple of weeks before the Rx and after turning direct sooo… that might be it. Also, there are some who say the RX started on the 23rd and it may have for their timezone; however, it was listed as January 24th UTC time in the Swiss ephemeris.
What’s an Rx Good for and What is it?
An Rx is great for going back and seeing what plans that planet wanted you to carry-out but that you didn’t quite complete / figure out in the past.
When it’s in retrograde (appearing to move backwards from its normal forward direction in the cosmos), it goes over all these things.
The prefix re is Latin and it relates to repetition. It means going over things again or again and again. It also means going back or a backwards motion and this is related to withdrawal.
Any word that starts or contains the re such as renew, restart, revert, rejuvenate, review, retrace, reorganize, refurbish indicates the type of action you can experience during a retrograde. And as much as Mars Rx is about reflection and taking time-out, it’s about doing things and taking action in regards to something from the past, even if it’s done internally. Yes, themes can manifest themselves internally — like an introvert.
While the abbreviation Rx means retrograde, it reminds me of the word prescription (which also has re in it). A prescription is meant to fix a problem — something that is not functioning at its best. And during a Mars Rx, things that are not working are brought to our attention so we can fix them before an even more serious problem occurs.
So what does it all mean and how does it affect you?
When Mars or any planetary Rx is talked about, it’s often referring to what is going on in the cosmos; however, it’s important to see how what’s going on in the sky affects you personally and for that — we take a look at your natal chart.
By checking your personal and world transits and seeing what sign and house Mars is in and what other planets, asteroids, stars, and points it may contact — we’ll be able to gain a better idea as to how, why, and what will manifest during this period. READY, SET, GO (or no-go) — ACTION (or non-action)!
Examples of Potentially beneficial things to do during a Mars Rx
So for this Rx, if you haven’t had a successful health routine (exercise, eating, etc) now is the time to review, revise, and DO. Also, sex is on the table or bed (wherever you like it… haha) so have you been getting too much or too little sex? How’s your sex life been? This is actually a good time to see a sex therapist, get some sexual education, analyze, and fine-tune your love-making abilities. Muah! Go get ’em tigers and tigresses.
Finally, anger issues — resentments, upsets — get over them. Say goodbye to that which inflames, incites, and ignites in unhealthy ways. Mars also rules surgery. So this might be a good time to go back and redo a surgery that didn’t repair an injury from the past. Do know that some astrologers say to stay away from surgery altogether during a Mars Rx.
It may also be a good time to aggressively heal a dis-ease, fungal infections, metals, blood disorders, etc. (Use health information at your own risk!! I highly suggest not replacing licensed medical advice with alternative therapies and occult knowledge).
And if you experience constipation or intestinal problems (Virgo rules that) ensure you work-out and get your innards moving (Mars!!). Don’t let the Rx back-up your system. Focus on active health & wellness — things you haven’t done before or didn’t do successfully before.
Holding back the juice is also indicated during this transit. So you may want to use protection, for various reasons, when having sex during this Mars Rx. Or there could be other reasons for the retraction of martian fluid (including sweat! ;). This is where Mars Rx can get a little negative — it all depends on how you slant things, what you want, and how it’s viewed. Perhaps this is a time where you want to conserve your energy (holding back the juice) for a specific event where you’re the athlete, such as being a marathon runner or hockey player and need to amass Martian reserves for the big day. Or it could mean abstaining from sex so that you have more juice for to impregnate. Or it could mean reducing a large amount of blah sex in favour for less WOW sex. There are so many ways to read this transit and a professional astrologer (like myself) can help you make sense of how this transit applies to you personally.
So please, please, please… don’t think this Mars Rx is all bad stuff. In fact, you might not perceive ANY bad thing happening. Time will tell. Know the future possibilities, but live in the reality of the present. Work with and not against the planets in the style (sign) they want it done.

Looking at the world transits, one stands out right away — Mars Rx Trine Mercury in Capricorn . To me, that means this is a very good time to go over serious conversations about sex, health, and education that will make you money in the end or help you reach long-overdue goals. And Pluto Sextile Venus also stands out. It says to me that powerful love is at play during at least part of this Mars Rx.
This world transit is great for thinking about how we compete with other businesses or others in the workplace. Here, the suggestion is that talking it out rather than getting physical will work. Because we are at the tail-end of Saturn in Libra 29° I feel this Mars Rx has a lot to do with relationships — relationships with yourself AND others. And that’s the other thing, as an astrologer we look at the whole chart — not just parts. Mars Rx Virgo is a part.

Recently, I watched the Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows movie (which includes a long bit on a fortune teller and tarot card reading) and Mars Virgo makes for a good games-man — the type that’s quite cerebral and cunning!
haha… just checked Robert Downey’s natal chart and guess what? he has Mars in Virgo!! 😉 If this actor sexually appeals to you, you’ll get a sense of what a Mars Virgo male is like. By the way, Robert has a stellium in Virgo (Mars, Uranus, and Pluto) in the 2nd house (sensuality, self-esteem, self-finances, beauty, etc.)

I have a ton of physical energy and I’m doing more than I usually do. I have drive and ambition.
I have increased responsibility in the work I do. It’s affirming but mentally challenging.
I have lost 12 pounds since starting a new exercise & food regime since December 25th. As the days got closer to the Rx, I was even more determined to exercise and eat right! And I noticed I don’t have the same kind of appetite that I did before. That could have to do with the exercise but I’m usually still interested in eating. Don’t worry folks, I’m still eating — not starving myself but the appetite is in the normal or slightly less than normal but healthy range!
I lost a whole bunch of my ‘social numbers’ on my blog posts so it looks like ‘less’ people actually liked or shared an article. (now fixed and back to normal numbers!!)
I’m so busy — so much to do, and time is flying! Time is flying by at a much faster rate than ever before. What gives?
Keep thinking about getting a small pet… not sure if I want a cat or a dog. Either would be fine but dogs require more care. Thought about this a lot but still not taking any action… probably next year, after do a lot of traveling.
I have had outbursts of anger but then analyzed for what they were: Delayed knowledge. What I mean by that is that something happened in the past that I choose to ignore and then when I re-discovered it (archeology dig?!), I blew up in disbelief that I had fooled myself into not connecting to what was really going on.
I keep coming back to this blog post and correcting small mistakes. Tweaking, and tweaking…

Don’t know your correct time of birth, without a doubt?
In Canada, contact the hospital’s health records department where you were born.
In US, order your “record of birth” long form (not all cities have it recorded on there) from the state department of vital statistics or you may want to use VitalChek. American Astrologer, Steven Forrest has a great article on how to order this. Fees currently range from $10 – $30.
Overseas? Check with the hospital you were born at and/or the attending physician or you can try VitalChek International.
My time of birth was a bit off from the baby record my Mom filled out (it was in a scrap book she made up for me). As an astrologer it made the world of difference to know my exact time of birth. And it will make a world of difference for you if you are interested in completely fulfilling your life, with clarity.
For example, meaningful fixed stars and asteroids use a much tighter orb so it’s very important to have your exact time of birth when using these.
In Toronto, it can currently cost between $30-$60 to get your time of birth from the hospital. Make sure they know you only want the time of birth or they will charge you a lot more. If you are not sure about which hospital you were born at, order the long form birth certificate. In the province of Ontario, it can be ordered online. Your time of birth will not show on the long form birth certificate like it often does in the United States.

Without an accurate time of birth time (or any time of birth), a chart can still be read — just not with complete accuracy and with less detail.
It’s also important to know exactly where you were born, location wise. Some cities are now amalgamated. Some cities changed names, etc. For example, the exact location where I was born is no longer seen on a map but it makes a difference in the chart. To be even more accurate (if doing your own chart) you’ll want to know the exact spot where you were born, if you can (latitude and longitude).
A birth chart rectification can also been done by astrologers. I’m generally within an hour of your time of birth, and I do not specialize in birth chart rectification services.

And having a Virgo stellium in the 8th with Mercury & Pluto (not conjunct) with harmonious yet powerful aspects flowing through that house, it’s not really a wonder why I’m told that…
I genuinely care about what makes people tick and how to help them move past their blocks and other people’s blocks.
But being there, helping people, means I’m stuck in the past — the other’s past and my past. And my focus the whole time is to take the other to their own positive future. But what about me? Am I achieving my future? I think not.
We are who we spend our time with.
I love helping people but having an early degree Virgo SN Conjunct Mercury in the 8th house is doing psychoanalysis and dealing with people’s deep and dark stuff. And while I can do it well, it’s my past. I’m also not into studying something in a way that doesn’t give me personal freedom of mental expression. In other words, to be a psychologist, I need to do years of formalized education in a restrictive environment and with Jupiter & Uranus Libra in the 9th I don’t think that’s my destiny.
My future is Pisces NN 2nd house conjunct (out of sign) an Aquarius Part of Fortune in the 1st (some house systems, it’s on the 2nd), Trine MC Acrux / Alphecca (I’m a wide orb Gal), the ruler of the 2nd is in the 10th (or 9th, depending on house system), along with my late degree Virgo planets in the 8th (close to or cusping on Libra… ie Venus Virgo is 28° with ruler of the 4th and 9th being in the 8th.
Helping people (in the way I have done) keeps me in my past. It took a TarotSeek session and a conversation with a beloved Pisces to hit the final nail on the head. And that’s an incredible revelation because I had trouble with understanding how I could do Pisces NN while having Virgo SN and a packed house of Virgo. And while I love helping people and can do it, it wasn’t serving me and I want to be a servant in another way — a way that serves the goals of other AND myself.
But I asked: How can I do my Pisces NN while moving away from (yet merging) the Virgo SN with so much Virgo?! The answer is plainly in not judging others or their situation and doing Piscean pursuits that are largely insular yet eventually healing and expanding out to others.
Anyway, back to this topic…
Once I make-over someone, they are done — they leave. I don’t get invited to the photo-shoot or the after-party, and rarely do I get a photo of that shoot mailed to me down the road. It’s not fun and I ♡ fun! Once I help someone shine brightly, they leave and I don’t get to enjoy the fruits of our labour. And the people I help, don’t really come back for me. They are not really thinking of getting me ahead and that’s not their fault or their responsibility.
It’s time that I do my Pisces NN and start working with art and music in a spiritual way — in a way that inspires and teaches others.

I was part of the choir in school and church. I still sing today (in my shower, while washing dishes, etc!) and have dreams of being a one-hit wonder — time limited fame & fortune! I have a ton of musical instruments but I haven’t picked up my guitar in a long while and I actually fancy the harmonica and drums. I was part of a special enrichment class in grade school where we made a commercial about soda-pop and I was the lead actress doing Michael Jackson’s MoonWalk (totally dating myself here!). I always took art class in school and drew everything that would let me. Teachers liked what I did but they never pushed me into a professional pursuit.
In one of my high schools, I was in a special class where most of the students were actors, athletes, or artists. They asked: What do you do? I didn’t. I was just a student who was bright but accelerated so regular school was too boring and didn’t work. I needed independent and flexible study (Aries on 3rd house cusp! Chiron Aries). That’s why I was there. But I did spend some time thinking about going to OCAD and I hung around art students and professional artists.
In my late teens I worked at a local movie theatre and once sang Blue Moon at the front of the stage with an usher who was trying to land an acting gig / career. And there was Ed, the dancer and wow, do I love dance. Which brings me to being a gymnast with a particular interest in the mat and beam. Then as an adult, I took pottery and other hobby art workshops. Color and color psychology are big interests too. I am amazed at how color transforms an environment or person. I like to play with origami, draw, and create to help me relax and be. And my Mom is a Pisces and an artist plus my ancestors were musicians and artistic. To boot, as a 30/3 life path I like to express and I took drama every year too. I can be a bit of an improvisational loon.
There are so many more artistic and dramatic memories but it would probably fill pages and I hope not to bore anyone with details. I also didn’t intend for such a self-exploration but with Mercury Septile Jupiter, I have a habit of writing or talking up a storm! Hope no one thinks it’s self-absorbed and I do hope this helps others take the time out to find or accept their heart’s desire.
But back onto topic again…
I greatly admire/d artists and I was/am surrounded by artists but I never stepped up to be an artist and while some artists helped me take a step, looking back… it looks to me that others almost hid their artistry from me preferring to talk about what I knew and did rather than what they knew and did so I didn’t get to learn a lot.
This is why even though I have connected with tons of people in my lifetime, I’ll never forget those that helped me positively progress because they have been few and far between. Like an ex-boyfriend (also a three life path) who had cut a super CD of his own. He let me stay in his place and sing to my heart’s content on his recording equipment and finally I was able to sing in front of him — first time I did that as an adult. And I even contemplated getting singing lessons back then but I didn’t. In fact, ever so often I reach out to get lessons but something holds me back (now, I’m just studying how to sing through a CD program, as I clean up my place). Anyway, he inspired me to write some songs and paint too. He, a Taurus, went on to get a degree in fine art. He opened me up to express myself and to let go of rigidity without actually telling me what to do. And one Christmas he got me a color wheel. That was one of the best gifts I ever got. He also got me a blue cup with a sunflower on it (I love flowers, especially sunflowers — LEO!!) that I used for my paint brushes and he also gave me a painting he did for me.
Natally, I have a packed Venus (as well as Mercury, Moon, a lot of Septiles, Noviles, and Deciles — but this post is about the right side of my brain (Pisces) as it pertains to art and why I’m turning away from my left (Virgo), for now, to explore it). Having said that, Virgo still plays a part. For example, Virgo Venus illustrates my love of ‘smart design or smart art’. 😀
The only aspect I have missing in my natal chart is Venus-Mercury. In 2014, I’ll have a progressed Venus Sextile Mercury and at that time, Venus will contact everything except for Saturn, Neptune, North Node, and MC. The progressed Venus will also and currently does Sextile my natal Mercury.
The world transit for Chiron has retrograded back to 2° 30 Pisces TODAY and that has re-activated my North Node Pisces 2° 49 as a powerful conjunction. This also means that my SN is opposite Tr. Chiron reminding me that the past hurts my future.
The last time Chiron came into 2° 30 Pisces was on March 11th, 2011 and the last time it will jump back in a direct motion, in my lifetime, will be on January 18, 2012 at 2° 47; however, the first week of January will probably bring a huge jump in consciousness as to what and how I’m to carry out my life’s mission. (Update: On Jan 18, I found myself being in a situation that required me to be independent, self-sufficient, and there was a lot of emotionality but at the same time I had a fierce “I can do this” strength to accept what has been given to me and to not go down ‘that road’ again. I’m naturally a ‘partner’ but I have learned that I need to come first in all cases because I’ll naturally put others first and they are unlikely to reciprocate. First week of January was an incredibly emotional time for me where I had to ‘face the music’ and from Jan 18 onwards, I have experienced incredible emotional pain but pain (I believe) that ultimately has a healing outcome.)

Art has been at my fingertips this whole time. I have done it, I have hung around people who did it, and yet why was I being so nebulous about the whole thing when it came to me doing it?
With all this art around me, why has it taken me so long to connect the dots? I have my thoughts but it mostly comes from non-support. Insular art is not something that others can enjoy, at least not right away. And I have found that the majority of people are selfish. If it doesn’t serve them at that moment, then why care? If you are reading this and you are not selfish, I wouldn’t be so quick to pat yourself on the back nor would I do so if you consider yourself selfish. Because doing what doesn’t come naturally helps find a balance and that is often something to be more proud (a Leo word) of.
For myself (with my Sun in the 7th house naturally ruled by Venus & Juno), I’m learning to be selfish and to take care of me. I don’t have any more time to lose. It’s time for my Sun Leo to flower…
(Update: February 2. I have joined the AGO and I plan to join a new cultural institution (such as the ROM, Bata Museum, etc. at least once a month. I also picked up a Vocal Studio Mic and softward to start recording and playing around with my singing though I have been still too busy to upload anything to the Internet. ).

Mercury (messenger of the gods and god of trade) is the planet of communication, thoughts, left brain function, quick-wit, words, business transactions, lower learning, interesting facts and figures, data, delivery, short distance travel (travel over land), messages, and speed. It rules the sign Gemini and co-rules the sign Virgo.
Mercury’s name “is related to the Latin word merx (“merchandise”; compare merchant, commerce, etc.), mercari (to trade), and merces (wages).”[2]
When it’s in retrograde (appearing to move backwards from its normal forward direction in the cosmos), it goes over all these things.
The prefix re is Latin and it relates to repetition. It means going over things again or again and again. It also means going back or a backwards motion and this is related to withdrawal.
Any word that starts or contains the re such as renew, restart, revert, rejuvenate, review, retrace, reorganize, refurbish indicates the type of action you can experience during a retrograde. And as much as Mercury Rx is about reflection and taking time-out, it’s about doing things and taking action in regards to something from the past, even if it’s done internally.
Breakout Thought: And this brings me to a thought about what type of aspect Mercury most emulates. Given there’s an internal or past element to it, I’m inclined to say that a Moon and/or Neptune vibe will be felt — specifically Moon-Mercury and Mercury-Neptune. What do you think? This may be why some astrologers say an Rx can cause confusion, mixed up vibes, emotional contact, etc.
While the abbreviation Rx means retrograde, it reminds me of the word prescription (which also has re in it). A prescription is meant to fix a problem — something that is not functioning at its best. And during a Mercury Rx things that are broken are brought to our attention so we can fix them before an even more serious problem occurs.
So what does it all mean and how does it affect you?
When Mercury Rx is talked about, it’s often referring to what is going on in the cosmos; however, it’s important to see how what’s going on in the sky affects you personally and for that — we take a look at your natal chart.
By checking your personal and world transits and seeing what sign and house Mercury is in and what other planets, asteroids, stars, and points it may contact — we’ll be able to gain a better idea as to how, why, and what will manifest during this period.
Some Beneficial Things to do During a Mercury Rx
Here are some ideas:
Revisit unresolved thoughts, communication problems, and conversations.
Refrain from communicating if discussing new topics.
Expect delays in receiving messages or deliveries.
Reorganize files, accounts, or work with old papers.
Replay conversations.
Retake a knowledge test.
Renew business contacts.
Read the fine print.
One big thing you may find during an Rx, depending on your temperament (aspects and such) is that you don’t feel like extroverting your thoughts or talking. If you are in business like I am, that will affect what you earn since business transactions are not moving forward due to communication hiccups from lack of communication.
Before I wrote this article, I recognized that business income slowed for me during an Rx but I didn’t really know why. Above, I write: Renew business contacts. I certainly wasn’t doing that during previous Rx’s but since my aspects are doing well this go around (and the Rx is in a fire sign — I’m a Leo) I don’t find that to be a problem now.
What I’m saying here is this:Â If you find your self-employment income dwindling, force yourself to complete business transactions and in the future get yourself ready for Rx energy — and schedule Rx time to do other business activities that allow you to hole up for awhile and plump up your cash flow pre-Rx.

Looking at the world transits, one stands out right away — Mercury Rx Conjunct North Node. To me, that means this is a very good time to rethink your destiny. What do you want out of life? What’s holding you back? What’s next on your journey? Who are you to become? What will make you feel self-actualized? And since this is a world transit, this is a world thought. Most everyone will be thinking about this as it relates to the future of the world. Because of that, the personal impact may not be as great; however, world thought can trickle down to personal thought. At any rate, Check your personal transits or have me check them for you!!
Personal Notes
Ever since paying close attention to the stars, Mercury Rx has been a time where there was a complete stop or stall to writing. What’s happening now for me is that the truth is more clear and I’m able to communicate that truth in an unwavering way. The unfortunate part is that it’s being done with great strength, so anyone who can’t stand the heat will surely want to avert their eyes from my writing!
And it’s not until now that I felt like writing about Mercury Rx. I have went through many of them and it’s a popular subject but a) I don’t often like writing about a topic unless I’m in the thick of experiencing it b) I’m not currently much into what’s popular, finding what’s not — more interesting, and c) up until now, I have felt stumped and stalled to write anything about it while it was actually happening.
Update: This Mercury Rx is over and what I did was re-evaluate how I shared knowledge and changed who and where I shared it. Sharing knowledge is something I will do, no matter what, but how and where and why I do it was up for re-evaluation. At times it was painful to realize I couldn’t share freely in the way I wanted but the change is for my highest good and for the highest good of those I serve.
My Personal Transits
This time around tr. Mars is Conjunct Mercury with an exact 0° orb of influence along with tr. Mercury Rx Trine Mars are in the 8th house. And tr. Mercury Quintile Uranus is exact with a 0°orb (cusps on the 8/9th houses). My mind is on fire. To add to that, I have the Sun, Mercury, and North Node transiting my 11th house which is ruled by Jupiter (sign on the cusp is Sagittarius) yet I have no planets in this house. Also notable is tr. Sun Conjunct Urania (11th house, Sag).

The 9th house is where we find our Brilliant Mind — our genius!Â
And it’s where we expand our mind too — perhaps even through drugs! Drugs can be in the form of sex, herbs, chocolate, exercise — anything that gives us that high! So we can use drugs and mind altering chemicals (like endorphins released through exercise or sex) to reach the higher mind. Another example, is going for a nice long walk to clear our mind and get answers.
The 9th house represents both the student and the teacher and it’s where we learn but then take it a step further and begin disseminating and teaching what we learn, along with the 11th house. We feel confident and optimistic about our mental mind! Being connected with the 5th and 11th houses, the 9th has a political tone to it as well — as it relates to justice and the law being upheld — especially around human and legal rights.  This is one reason why Sagittarius gets along with Aquarius and Libra really well. The 9th house is about being socially fair, and unfettered by dogma though the native may have their own dogma that they follow religiously. In the 9th house, we witness long distance travel and communication around different philosophies, culture, and knowledge. We may travel to another state, province, or country to gain education in a land foreign to us so we may gain more than just the knowledge given to us at that school. We want to learn how the others live and whether we want to live that way too. We want to enrich our lives with all that there is to enjoy, see, and do. Education may be received at a distance, through on-line learning. The 9th house is where we take all that we learn, write, communicate, and publish it. Publishing is not just in the form of books — it can be blogs, journals, and perhaps even keynote speaking, teaching as a professor. In the area of religion and spirituality, there’s not a lot of boundary. As a 9th house native matures, they may do away with dogmatic religions and become agnostic or atheist. On the other side, they may get deeper into their spirituality at a grass roots level by becoming a missionary in a far-away land or creating their own religion / spirituality.
Although the 9th house is co-ruled by Neptune, I was having some trouble with some astrologers attributing the 9th to being the house of psychic and occult phenomena. I attribute those experiences to the water houses: 4th (Cancer) past lives / psychic heritage, 8th (Scorpio) occult / medium, and 12th (Pisces) angels / spirit guides / psychic dreams, cognition; however, I do believe in the Law of Proximity. Because of that, there’s overflow from one house to another. What I do see is that the 9th house (for example) takes or makes the experiences of the 8th and teaches, writes about, communicates, philosophizes, tests, and explores it in an enlightened and spirited way.

Uranus in the 9th – Crazy ideas / freedom to the world — Uranus, planet of radical ideas, progression and adventure. It is considered the modern ruler of Aquarius. Its natural house is the 11th house. In the astrological chart, Uranus is considered a “transpersonal”, an extramundane, spiritual planet, reflecting a function that is beyond one-self and beyond social structures. It does not constitute a part of the basic psychological make-up of the personality, but rather lends itself to whatever personal planet it is aspecting.
Your thinking, ideas and philosophies are original, offbeat,
independent and unorthodox. There may be a desire to study
metaphysics or a fringe religion or foreign culture. Sudden and

Basically I have a method of delineating your whole chart so I can ‘synch’ with your vibrations and operating manual. If you know too much about astrology, you may find this process a waste of your money and time, and I have little interest in spending most of the consultation on some obscure insights that you couldn’t find on your own.
I will WOW you if you can be a client, or are a new student of astrology who isn’t an autodidact, otherwise do consciously lower your expectations as I may not be the best reader for my peers.

At the time of writing this article, there isn’t / wasn’t much written on the Internet about Sun Semi-Square Venus. What I did read was quite negative, un-supportive, and misses the mark (I believe). While what they say might be true, they are not digging deep enough to understand the root problem or pain that the native with a Sun-Venus (in hard aspect) goes through. This native is literally hard on themselves and that might mean they are hard on others too but one way to get out of that is to stop being so hard on themselves.

Oddly, I haven’t found a Sun Libra semi-square yet. 😉
After pouring over the charts of these notable Sun Semisquare Venus, I see the natives as being awkwardly sexy and charming. There’s something about them that is ‘off’, yet there is something that draws you into their appearance too — they are attractive, in their unique way but there’s something uncomfortable about being attracted to it. Sun-Venus is like Sun Libra / Taurus and Venus Leo. Spirituality
The strongest Spirituality planets include Neptune and Jupiter. The spiritual houses are the 12th and 9th. Supporting houses include the 4th, and 8th. Neptune can be deception and Jupiter optimistic.
In the Toronto, Canada chart for this day: Neptune is in the 7th house of partnerships, contracts, and commitments. Jupiter in the 9th (at home) of foreigners and foreign affairs, spirituality, justice, amongst other things.

Question: I asked what will happen to the Dow Jones on Friday?
Response: [Worked with the Bright Ideas Tarot for this session, card picture not included] First thing I saw was a lot of angry people. Then I saw security trying to calm people down. Some people look depressed, others dissatisfied yet contemplative on what to do next, yet mostly people were angry. I see a mob walking out on the street.
Analysis: The suggestion here is that the Dow Jones is likely to plummet though I said in my numerology and astrology article that it was likely to rise. In this case, it could be that people are angry because they thought it would take a nose dive and it didn’t. It will be interesting to see how things go. 🙂 Either way, I’m right or wrong!? lol
Advice, Action, or Suggestion: Will take a look at the Dow tomorrow. Maybe it takes a hard hit and then gets artificially saved — reminiscent of the Depression era. Update: The Dow Jones went UP! 2.5% globally, 2.9% US, 2.06% Europe!

I have been curious about Chiron for some time but it felt like too heavy an asteroid to write about and I’m not exactly writing about it here either….
A draft article was written on Nov 26, 2010 @ 6:18 — 12 months ago, on this day!! I’m finding it now because I’m ready to work on the 3rd house article and wanted to see if I wrote up any notes. I found this one about me. I don’t usually make a post all about me but I figure that someone out there probably has Chiron Aries in the third house so this post might benefit you or one of your clients, friends, or loved ones.
Anyway, I have expanded my original draft and… oddly I’m posting this on Wednesday, Wodan’s Day, Mercury — since this post relates to communication.
And another Oddly, I had only bought The Twelve Houses by Howard Sasportas a couple of weeks ago and I was all excited about a revelation I read about my placement. Sasportas said this about Chiron in the 3rd: “Some with this placement may have difficulty fitting into the early schooling situation or have learning or speech difficulties.” But I ALREADY knew that since that’s what I wrote down in this blog post back in November 2010 and what I thought may have been my Chiron problems in the house of communication. Aha!
This is one reason why writing and reviewing a personal and professional diary is so very helpful to one’s progress as well as remind us where we came from, where we are, and where we can go.
Chiron: Your wounds, how you feel wounded, how you can wound others, how you can heal other’s wounds. It’s suggested Chiron is ruled by Virgo, Pisces, and/or Sagittarius Aries: In mythology, Ares is the God of War. Called scatterbrained in grade 6 because my thought faster than speech
Have dyslexia. This is considered a learning disability but can become a gift, once accepted (healed). Known for extremely good spelling and word knowledge, because I had a photographic memory (not as strong as childhood); however, sentences and letters were backwards. I thought in a backwards way (still do) so it was hard for teachers to understand what I was saying and writing sometimes. And sometimes I misunderstood what was being asked of me. I was advised I wouldn’t make it in university because of my reading comprehension yet my IQ is above average. Grades in school fluctuated on whether a teacher taught in a particular way. I like being taught in a style that’s animated, moves, and that tells a verbal story in a visual way so I can draw a mental picture.

Got all tongue tied around figures of authority (better written as, ‘authority figures’…)
Not feeling heard. Others can say the same thing but people pay attention to them. I can ask for something directly and it be thoroughly ignored.
Aspects in orb with Chiron as it relates to Mars & Mercury
Chiron Aries (3rd house, Mars Ruler) is in opposition of Uranus Libra (9th house Venus Ruler) — Libra and the 9th house can relate to languages. And I have a natural affinity and fair ease in learning languages; however, when it’s in opposition to Chiron — it can mean I am wounded by my native language (English). English, to me, has severely lacked. There were not enough precise words readily known, to explain and express what I was feeling or sensing. It just seemed, lacking. Uranus Libra, as it pertains to learning, represents a highly different or innovative way of learning and with a small class, where partnership, intimacy, and co-operation amongst students, is one of the best ways to learn advanced concepts. With Chiron Aries in the third, I felt alone in my learning process but I imagine I learned to make that work for me since I’m an autodidact now.
This placement can also mean that because of my communication wounds in childhood and my young adulthood, it didn’t set me up with clear confidence and direction for higher education. Yet, I’m an eternal student. And here goes the opposition of “but’s”… very Libra… A vacillation to and from…. On one hand, this – but on the other hand, that. But the great thing about oppositions, is that they are conjunctions — in disguise. A mirror. An opposition means: Differences projected or displaced, a separation, a blind-spot, a wall between, two sides to the story, attraction vs. repulsion, push vs. pull, back vs. forth, same goals but different ways of expressing it. A conjunction means: Power, an overpowering urge to merge, inseparable, and no distinction.
Chiron Trine Sun & Mars Leo (7th house) — Without the contact type in mind, this connection can mean: Self-healing, Personal Healing, or Self-wounds, Personal Wounds (Sun), and Aggressive, Sexual, or Creative Healing / Wounding / Wounds (Mars). What heals, can hurt. What hurts, can heal. My wounds and what I can teach others, are in harmony with my Sun and Mars in the house of partnership. In other words, my partners, associates, clients, and best friends benefit from my wounds, how I have healed, and what I have learned about healing – because I accept and understand the small voice within and I encourage others to get their needs met, and to vocalize feelings and thoughts, etc.. I encourage and facilitate healing.
Chiron Inconjunct / Quincunx Mercury Virgo (8th house, Mercury Ruler) – Without the contact type in mind, this connection can mean Healing Communication / Analysis or Communication / Analysis that Heals.
This contact can be found in the charts of mental healers, psychic surgeons, psychologists, psychics, astrologers, and other metaphysicians and philosophers especially if Chiron or Mercury is found in the 8th or 9th house.
For me, there’s an adjustment to be made in how I communicate deep truths that are meant to heal, especially around psychology and how others operate. I ask others to adjust their perspective on what people say and what they see. To analyze the truth of what is being said and how it heals or wounds. Therefore, I help others heal not only themselves but others because healing oneself, heals others.
When I was younger, I didn’t realize I helped people heal and that my words meant anything — until many years later.  People surprisingly told me (long after the fact) that I healed them in some way. Today, I get to hear about my impact much more quickly, often on-the-spot and that’s what I prefer to know. I prefer to know how I’m affecting someone (for good or bad) TODAY! It’s the Aries way. 🙂

Aries on the 3rd House Cusp
With Aries on the 3rd house cups, it’s like having a Mercury-Mars aspect, which I don’t have natally.
Aries on the 3rd can signal: One-sided conversations. Aggressive, loud, or assertive way of speaking. Speaking over another person. Not being afraid to say what one wants. Passionate thinking process. passionate way of expressing one’s thoughts. Flirtatious. Confident speech. Child-like or immature way of communicating. Not knowing right from wrong as it pertains to what is communicated.
But it also means, I have Libra on the 9th. Co-operative, harmonious, flowing language of the higher mind. Small talk is not a feature. Philosophical thought, using big and expressive words is more often utilized. I seek education where the teacher is the student and vice versa — this is inline with my fortified teaching method. And I prefer small class learning experiences where the one with the talking stick (i.e. the Teacher or Facilitator) connects deeply and values each individual and their contribution within the group.
My ruler of the 3rd is in my 7th so that just adds to the challenge. And Mercury, the natural house ruler of the 3rd, is in my 8th. The 8th is naturally ruled by Pluto and co-ruled by Mars. So there’s a lot of strength, intensity, and power in how I communicate. I leave a lasting impression and hit immediately / deeply, yet I imagine some may have and do find me too much and therefore push away from associating what they learned with me because of how I deliver/ed my message. And I have been working on that. My Venus is fully activated so I have been channeling as much of that into my communication style with others. Left to my own devices, I wouldn’t pay attention to the effect (too busy talking and trying to get my point across) I have on the other person’s feelings while talking to them and even today, I don’t always know what effect I’ll have on another. But if the person speaks up, they’ll get their needs met and I’ll cool down if that’s desired.
Fixing Chiron in the 3rd Problems
This is what I have done or I am doing to fix my Chiron in the 3rd problems:
Be discerning about when to use force, with speech.
Pay attention to whether others, in environment, can handle what I’m saying (too much, too soon).
Took early speech therapy to remove my lisp
Slowed down my thoughts like a martial artist slowing down their physical movements
Read everything I could on how to communicate better, with an emphasis on oral communication (my weakest way to communicate anything of value, or anything of the higher mind).
With Gemini on my 5th and 6th, I’m writing and communicating a lot. Fancy how I could have dyslexia & Chiron in my 3rd — making communicating and writing more challenging but something I love and feel, need to do. Double check what I have wrote before sending and then read again after sending or after some time passes. Unfortunately, for casual or urgent communication, that’s not always something I can do. Have someone edit important written documents. Make my own mental pictures. Don’t wait for anyone else to do it for me.
If someone doesn’t want to listen or care for what I say, don’t talk to them. What I’m having to get over is the shock of someone else truly listening. There’s a quiet in their voice, I can hear a complete shut-down in what they want to say next, because they are deeply listening to what I have to say. That is still unnerving to me because it doesn’t happen enough to be normal.
Authority, celebrity, or anyone considered better or bigger than me, isn’t really that afterall. It’s a perception of illusion. They have similar challenges, emotions, feelings, and physical make-up as myself. They are no better or bigger but a star in their own right as I am a star in my own right.
Learn to communicate in a way that is palatable, acceptable, and easy-for-others to understand. Strip the eccentricities and abstractness out of my speech, at least when it’s for mass market. And perhaps channel the eccentricities into art, where it’s generally most appreciated.
Ask for what I need directly. If my needs are not being met, demand or take them for myself (as long as the rights of others are not violated and I’m not being criminal!). Ask to be heard. If I’m not, move away from those who obviously don’t want to hear me. No loss on either side, yes?!
How can my Chiron in the 3rd, Teach and Heal Pain in Other People?
Consciousness heals.
I’m here to help people better communicate. It’s part of my mission: To help people communicate with themselves and in turn with others. If you can’t have a good conversation with yourself, surely you won’t be able to have one with anyone else.

I would agree that while I have felt and to some extent, still feel unheard, I know that my words and what I say ARE received and people are energized to act even if they don’t attribute that to what I said. So it’s in knowing this, that I recognize the power of my behind-the-scenes effect on others and can therefore design my communications with that in mind. This then alleviates my frustrations of not being heard, when I know full-well that I am but just not accepted, applauded, or recognized by a majority for a reason I haven’t fully resolved yet.
The work Jeremy did on Chiron in Aries is amazing. As it relates to Chiron Aries in the third, most people would think I completed university (I haven’t). I have read through dictionaries and encyclopedias for pure joy (remember that Gemini is likely on the 5th for anyone who has Aries on the third) because we like to know a lot of little facts — it’s interesting. I’m what one would call an autodidact, a self-learner and I do so with great vigor.
Having Mars rule my third and then be in my 7th, of open enemies — there is a suggestion that whatever I say can evoke strong feelings of competition and aggression from others (as well as that coming from me). What I say tends to be pointed, sure and unwavering statements. I have been working on bringing in Venus more often to soothe the force of Mars.

What Other People Say about Mars Square Neptune Aspects
As I wrote this, I realize I know a lot of people with Venus Square Saturn natally and a lot of my synastry (compatibility) with others causes one or both of us to have a hard Venus-Saturn aspect. I wasn’t happy to write this since I’m such a Venusian and I believe restricting oneself from love is harmful to self and other.  So I felt sad. 🙁 I have Venus Trine Saturn natally and I have a tendency to stay in and attract long-term connections even when no physical connection is present. Anyway, I”m going to tell you how I think you can help yourself or someone else get in touch with love. For now, this is what it looks like…
The Lesson
The lesson of Venus Square Saturn is to be responsible, discipline enthusiasm, yet care about the feelings of others and yourself. My solution for the natal manifestation of this aspect is for the native to be aware of the tendency to sabotage being in and finding love and to learn how to not withhold love from self or other, to balance the need for wanting to do the right thing with doing something that soothes and softens the spirit. To be sure to let others know your fears but to also be willing to do something about it. To not just lean on the other to solve the problem. Or perhaps just enjoy being single – it’s okay, really.
The native with Venus square Saturn is trustworthy and will not enter a relationship they don’t plan on staying in. This makes for a loyal and trusted companion. However, having Venus Square Saturn can keep a native from having a complete and happy love- life that glitters with gold because it wants the gold from the start and love takes time to develop and sometimes, yes, it does end and the investment in the person is lost but not in yourself and your development. You get to keep that! The Square aspects ask you to keep itreal but it still wants you to explore.

Synastry-wise, if a couple is lucky or bold enough to get their relationship off the ground, ideally they will keep in mind the need for one or both parties to be responsible and remain true to their commitments and duties that society deems necessary, to not belittle their need and desire to get stuff done even in the face of a budding romance because life is full of tasks and duties irrespective of love feelings. To help your lover accomplish their tasks and responsibilities so a path of love can be created. This aspect works well with couples who are not in a hurry or rush to materialize a relationship or encounter as it could take some time to get it off the ground in the first place. Patience, my friends. Beautiful and enduring friendships are often the result of Venus Square Saturn when one or both natives do not have romantic chemistry or can not / do not want to leave or adjust their societal commitments.
Now lets take a step back… Venus is most at home with Taurus Trining Saturn’s Capricorn. Libra (Venus) squares off with Capricorn (Saturn). Both Venus and Saturn here want their own way and they don’t want to understand each other. Recently, in an astrology group there was talk about Venus-Saturn in hard aspect and a comment was made about “High Expectations”.
I kept thinking about the comment about “high expectations” because I was talking about this theme in my own life for a week or so as it relates to my Neptune Opposition Saturn (synchronicity)… 🙂
Anyway, recently I took this “Narcissism” quiz http://www.0eb.com/ that’s been going around. I scored 12. Anyway, I observed that I had high expectations (entitlement) and a non-existent taking (exploitativeness).
With the quiz results, I confirmed and further discovered that if I take more, my expectations will go down. Why? Because I would have already received my due through taking what I deserved at that time rather than *subconsciously* believe it would somehow come back to me at a later date.
What does this have to do with Venus in hard aspect to Saturn or High Expectations? Well, hubby and I were chatting (we have Mercury Sextile Uranus in synastry — yay!!) about an unrelated aspect and it got me thinking…
Possibly a reason why the native with Venus-Saturn in hard aspect has *high expectations* is that they either “give too much love” or “don’t take / receive any” and maybe vacillate between the two with an opposition.
So if the native would just start TAKING (if they are too Venus) love without thinking they deserve it, are worthy of it, or whatever AND / OR RELEASE (if they are too Saturn) what they give… their *expectations* will lower because they will get their needs for affection and esteem met “then and there” without feeling used or under-appreciated.
What I call “conscious giving and taking” rather than “unconditional love” that we are *told* to do but does not work for everyone because we all have different karma or stuff we are working out.
And that’s one more solution or *strategy* for Venus-Saturn in hard aspect.
Am I ever going to fall-in-love or be with the one I love if I/we have Venus Square Saturn?
While I’m calling the Venus Square Saturn The Romeo & Juliet Aspect for a reason, keep in mind or know that there are other aspects in a chart that can alleviate or neutralize its effect. Then again there are other aspects that can further weaken this challenging aspect too. Also there are reasons for this aspect existing in the first place and it’s just a test. You are meant to jump the hurdle successfully and reap the fruits of your labour. It’s just that you need to want it and to work for it. But if you have always sucked or exhausted with studying and failed tests because of that, this aspect isn’t going to be kind to you.

Step #1
To start delineating knowwhat the planets, signs, houses, and aspects represent and their attributes.
Know and understand astrological aspects. The aspectsare the WHY or rather two or more planets getting together (for or against). This conversation, fight, or love-in, in the sky, is about us and what the big Dudes want us to do. Aspects also connect two or more planets and tell us a lot about the chemistry created in a person, people, event, and so-on.
Basic delineation: As per reading on Michael Starr’s website, “theplanets are WHAT energy needs to be expressed or understood, a psychological function or objective.” Also, to me, the planets make plans for us to carry out.
Intermediate delineation: As Michael Starr says, “the signs are HOW it manifests as drives or personal style, its method or mode of operation, or strategy. “Also, to me, this is the style or way in which the plans are carried out. If a sign is in fall of a planet, they might not do a very good job at carrying out the plans of that planet. However, if the sign is in domicile (at home), it will carry out the plans with ease and great skill.
Advanced delineation: Again, as Michael Starr says, “the houses are WHERE it manifests as situations or events. Its area of application, or its terrain.” Also, to me, the houses indicate what area the planet what’s its plans to be carried out. The houses represents activities and areas of interest.
Intermediate to Advanced Tip
One of the things I think is important, for any consultant or serious student of astrology to do, is to create their very own book on delineated aspectsminus the house and sign as that would likely be too much to tackle in even one lifetime. Yes, it does take a lot of work and time to create your own list of basic delineated aspects, but it’s well worth it.  I also suggest this to students and professionals of tarot.

Step #2
Delineation of planets aspecting each other is like creating a real-life story or short hand message from an astrological term such as Venus Square Neptune which is the planet Venus in contact with Neptune by way of a square.
How to do it
The following is a simple way to delineate / read an aspect.
Start with the planet furthest away (from outer to inner planets); then determine the contact /aspect type (i.e. Square); followed by the activated planet (from inner to outer planets). It’s like reading Arabic right to left.
Example
We will read the meaning behind the term: Venus Square Neptune.
Neptune is furthest away (outer planet) so we will look at that planet first.
Like every word, there is a longer meaning or other words that can be used in its place to get a stronger connection to the words meaning.
By choosing a keyword representing each planet and quality of connection (i.e. Square), for Venus Square Neptune we could say it can mean:
Fog (Neptune) stresses (square) love (venus). i.e. Not being able to see clearly causes one to be stressed about their love.
Dreams (Neptune) challenge (square) beauty (venus). i.e. The ideal beauty in one’s mind is not realized.
Deception (Neptune) obstructs (square) happiness (venus). Â i.e. Saying things that are untrue does not cause genuine happiness.
Intermediate to Advanced
When you have the hang of it, it can also be read from left to right; however, the best and most natural way to synthesize is whichever order comes naturally. Eventually interpreting aspects becomes instantaneous via intuition.
Created art (Venus) is not (Square) spiritual (Neptune) enough (Square).
Hang-up’s (Square) cause discomfort (Square) and confusion (Neptune) when attempting to be affectionate (Venus).
An addiction to drugs (Neptune) is a stubborn (Square) indulgence (Neptune) that causes distress (Square) in friendships and relationships (Venus).

Step #3
Co-Rulers
Planets rule one or two signs and in the case of ruling two, one sign is more at home than the other. In fact, I would say one of the signs are a cherished guest. All signs have their own home except for two, Virgo and Libra.
If the guest tells the host what to do it’s GAME OVER. So when delineating decide whether the guest or host is calling the shots.
The JMAD uses the Home / Domicile sign for purposes of initial delineation.
Know and understand the Home signs in each planet.
Table of Home (H) and Guest (G) signs. Guest means that another planet is a better fit for the secondary sign, if shown. To me the protoplanet and asteroid, Vesta rules Virgo and Juno rules Libra.

Second, we look at how The JMAD Swap works for these aspects, as examples:Â Moon-Pluto | Sun-Saturn | Mars-Saturn | Mars-Neptune | Moon-Saturn | Venus-Neptune | Mars-Pluto
Moon-Pluto
Using Moon-Pluto aspecting each other, it basically goes like this: The domicile planet for Pluto is Scorpio and the domicile planet for Moon is Cancer. With The JMAD Swap, the aspect then reads as Moon Scorpio and Pluto Cancer. These two planet/sign combination can be read “alone” or “together” to get an IMMEDIATE feel for the aspect.
The question to ask yourself then becomes: What are the attributes of Moon Scorpio? What are the attributes of Pluto Cancer? Together or separately it will tell you the story of Moon-Pluto…
Examples… Moon Scorpio — Hidden emotions. Secret needs. Jealous feelings. Pluto Cancer — Family power. Destructive family. Compulsive eating. Together — Destructive family causes hiding of emotions and needs. Food is used as a way to deal with the intense feelings of others wanting to possess self. Food becomes a way to gain back control.
Add a square to Moon-Pluto, get this: Moon Square Pluto — Hidden emotions causes conflict. Add a trine to Moon-Pluto — Hidden emotions expand opportunity.
A Moon Trine Pluto person may gain employment as a therapist because they are able to uncover the emotional depth that clients have buried.
Breaking Down The Method Further
Sun-Saturn
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Saturn also rules Aquarius. Leo is ruled by the Sun only. Swapping or flipping the signs we get: Sun Capricorn or Aquarius and Saturn Leo
This is where traditional vs. modern rulerships enters.
In my opinion, the first sign is more at home than the second sign listed in the table of essential dignities. The FIRST sign listed in the table is the best fit. And planets for Virgo and Libra have not been found yet.
Since Capricorn is the first listed sign for Saturn, I’ll choose that.
Therefore a Sun-Saturn aspect would have the vibe of Sun Capricorn and Saturn Leo.
A standard remark about Sun-Saturn is depression. When we use The JMAD Swap method we can get an understanding that the Sun in Capricorn in its shadow side can get a bit gloomy and the joy and warmth of Leo can get restricted by Saturn.
Mars- Saturn
As discussed in Rule #2, more emphasis can be placed on how the outer planet (or furthest planet) affects the inner planet (or closer planet) when delineating.
Mars is ruled by Aries AND Scorpio, Saturn by Capricorn and Aquarius. Depending on what is sought: actions or sex, decide whether to use Aries or Scorpio or you could use both — whichever resonates more for you. So we could have, for example, Saturn Scorpio and Mars Aquarius or Saturn Aries and Mars Capricorn and both create a “square” vibe
Action & Sex Example #1: Mars Capricorn and Saturn Aries
As per above, Mars-Saturn can mean:
Getting things done slowly.
Dominating sexually over time.
Action & Sex Example #2: Mars Aquarius and Saturn Scorpio
Joking about the lack of information to do one’s job thoroughly.
Open minded, through conversation, about sexual tastes.
Mars-Neptune

Quickly…Â Moon Opposition Saturn becomes Moon Capricorn and Saturn Cancer and means, in a nutshell, Suppressed feelings needs adjustment.
Tips
Remember, we can meditate, contemplate, or sit with just “one” of the Planets and Signs. So for a Mars-Saturn aspect, we could look at Mars Capricorn OR Saturn Scorpio to get a feel for a basic Mars-Saturn influence.
Regarding the “aspect contact type“: a Square, Opposition, Sesquiquadrate aspect would be a Shadow influence, while a Trine, Sextile could be a Light influence and Conjunct a Neutral influence.
Use the shadow traits for disharmonious aspects and light traits for harmonious aspects to get an immediate sense of what the aspect might offer.

Many people, including astrologers, are quick to point out the flaws but not focus on the gifts of challenging aspects, signs, traits.
With The JMAD Swap technique, let me look at your Mars-Neptune aspect.
Mars becomes Mars Pisces and Neptune becomes Neptune Aries.
Magical action. Magical sex. Active imagination. Aggressive addictions. Drugged action. Dissolving self. Soft action. Healing innovations. Medicine man or woman: A healer.
When we add the square we are getting obstacles, tension, stress, etc.
Here’s one possible upside: I believe a Healer (Mars-Neptune) is an awesome profession/skill and when you have it in square, you understand people’s pain better. You know “how” to heal in a very primal and enlightened way. However, the square will delay opportunities for you to do it. It will test your knowledge of healing and maybe put you into situations that will help you “get” healing better so you can go out and heal others. :-) Our pain becomes healing.
On my blog, I talk about turning Squares into Trines. More than anything this helps the individual “ease into” whatever they want to do without trouble. :-) You may be already doing this without knowing it…

Yes, people are envious of Charlie Sheen. He hasn’t “played nice” and if you don’t, society is going to push you down or attempt to do so! They feel he is pushing his success [and greatness] into their face. I’m personally unaffected by that. 🙂 Oddly, like you, I “get” him even if I do not agree with all his actions. I’m almost certain he also “worked crazy hard” for his blessings and he is naturally gifted in mental drama (look at his 5th house stellium in Virgo). He IS beyond most people who come into contact with him. He IS different. He IS misunderstood. And he needs to find his tribe. *grin*

Self-disclosure. Placidus: Leo Sun Conjunct Mars in the 7th. My 7th house cusp is Cancer. No planets in the first. Intercepted AC so I would like to say I have a bit of an Aquarius rising as well – a Double Ascendant (Cap & Aqua), if you will. My POF is Aquarius. Koch gives me Aqua on the 2nd.
